Two other thoughts on the Fawaz news - I find it hard to believe that a single Tweet has scuppered this deal, as reported. The Aussies must have breached their NDA one hundred times - Bowyer must feel vulnerable. Fawaz gets through managers.
Bowyer is a dead man walking as far as his job goes. Why else was he only given a nine month contract? Duchatelet did not want to give him contract at all. No new owner is going to want him. New owners always want their own man in the job. The Club is slowly dying as well of course. The latest drivel about RD caring for the Club is so supremely ironic and cynical, it shows more clearly than ever just what a nasty piece of work he is. Duchatelet would sell Charlton to the Devil as long as he gets his wasted money back with interest. If Fawaz Al-Hasawi buys Charlton Athletic I hope the first thing he does is sweep away every trace of Roland's suffocating regime of liars and lackeys. If we are going to Hell then let's at least enjoy the ride, rather than wither away while apathy gradually reduces our fan base to nothing.
About as feasible as two Russian tourists coming over for the day to see Salisbury Cathedral, and passing Skripal's house by accident.
So the Aussies have sunk £1,000,000 on Due Diligence, trying to buy a club they never had the money for.
Did it suit Duchatelet for that photo of Fawaz to leak out? It might just put pressure on other potential buyers.
Fawaz would be catastrophic. This is a man who nearly bankrupted several local businesses by refusing to pay invoices, faced 6 winding up orders, took player sale proceeds out of the club (£13m being the biggest) before running out of money and getting the club placed under a transfer embargo. That's before you factor in the internal damage he did by appointing friends with no footballing experience in to senior positions and his blatant disregard for the academy (sound familiar?). I've seen various posts across other forums calling for him to be given a second chance. Are we really that desperate that we should settle for gambling on whether he'll be better this time? Roland and Fawaz are exactly the sort of people the protest at the EFL HQ should be aimed at today. Neither should be allowed anywhere near a football club.
The problem is the bar is set so low after RD that virtually anyone with a few notes can be considered an improvement. But it needs very rosy specs indeed for Fawaz to get the thumbs up.
