Why oh why do trainers put me in torment by putting 2 horses I normally bet on, in the same race <steam>

Squire or Music Major? decisions decisions decisions.

    Dare I risk a rfc?

Our boy has a great chance tomorrow if the race gets run to suit. For the first time since I can remember we have pulled a plum draw. Fieldsman should set a good gallop for us to aim at. He wasnt given a hard race on soft ground at Lingfield last time and the handicapper even dropped us 2. Big big chance. 9's taken!

Looking down this Doncaster card there needs to be a stewards enquiry into how William Twiston Davies qualifies to ride in the legends race. He's barely out of his teens ffs.

all about El Astronaute today for me at Doncaster. One of my favourite horses of the season. Final Venture will once again be stiff opposition under Oisin Murphy though.

I expect Afaak to win the 4.40.

No time to run a tipping comp I’m afraid this week, but there looks to be some cracking racing over the next few days:1980_boogie_down:

Morning, pilgrims. Good luck with The Squire, team. Let’s hope he does fire and puts those bookie chappies in the mire.

Be careful though Stick, my old love. You are opposed by a Bond villain and a few fillies with lovely names. Both can be deadly.

And can I also say good luck to Princess Camilla whose Carntop goes for his hat-trick at Uttoxeter this afternoon (3.55). Since having a wind op earlier in the year (Carntop not Princess Camilla) this one is unbeaten and looks a nice recruit to the hurdling game. Not backing him but hope he obliges for the forum’s favourite Royal.

Cor blimey today really is ‘Wellwishing Wednesday’ isn’t it. While I’m on can I also say good luck to the lovely, and I do mean lovely, Amy Ryan who rides Mudawwan in the ‘Legends’ heat at Donny (3.35). One of my all time favourite jockeys of all time. I hope she returns with a winner.

While I’m on has anyone noticed this. Horses are now only permitted to run in the Cesarewitch if they have run ‘at least twice on the Flat since April of the same year’. An amazing condition to attach to a £250k handicap (this will rise to £500k in 2019 and from 2020 it will be a £1 million race) in my opinion.

I’m sure the BHA are doing this as the race is often renowed as being one open to a gamble /coup / con/ plot (delete as appropriate) and in their own words it has been done to create ‘as level a playing field as possible’. But it’s a bit dappy, in my view, as you could say similar things about practically every handicap run in the Isle!

Talking about this becoming a £1 million handicap this could have quite an impact on the staying hurdling division, especially in the period April – December (having 2 Flat runs to 'qualify', the race date itself and then recovery time), each year as several top notchers will now be aimed at the £1 million race rather than asked to contest 3 mile hurdles worth a tiny, tiny, tiny fraction of this amount. In fact some might be steered clear of the staying hurdling division completely if money like this exists on the level from 2020.

Ces contenders from the hurdling sphere are usually the 2m - 2m4f brigade aren't they? I doubt a true 3 mile staying hurdler would have the pace to win a Ces. Surely the increased prizemoney is compensation for "intermediate trip" NH horses who are crying out for a 2m 4f Championship Hurdle race at the Cheltenham Festival? A glaring omission by anyone's standards and quite simply disgraceful. Now where is the steward with my G and T ......................

hi fellas! wish you all a nice and prosperous day.

my first verdict comes from uttoxeter,2 15:

mr caffrey and david john are the obvious ones here, but both have taken a big hike in the weights. i think,HIS DREAM is the dark horse in this field.still unexposed in handicaps, and far more fairly treated for his latest efforts.so,with his low weight, and for a much respected stable, has to come into the reckoning today..
