    Yeah was very good.

Didn’t think the main characters were particularly well cast mind.

I’ve read all the Clancy books with jack Ryan.

I really enjoyed it but had read on various places how well they had cast the characters

Like you I don't see it

As much as I like the actor cast as Greer it just didn’t stack up for me. And why cast him as a converted Muslim?

I just didn’t like the actors playing jack and who will be his wife.

It’s a bit like they are trying to rewrite the original novels.

The original jack Ryan was Alec Baldwin then Harrison Ford. Then Affleck then Chris pine.

I realise making the about the Cold War doesn’t stack up in today’s climate so guess they have to make it about Islamic terrorism.

Would have just preferred it if they kept it more inline with the books. If you read the whole lot jack Ryan ends up as president.

Yeah I get they have to update stuff to make it relevant but sometimes just go too far.

I wasn't as fussed about Greer's character, albeit the whole Muslim conversion thing was weird, it was more jack and Cathy. I'd read how good they were but didn't see it.

Harrison ford is the only jack Ryan for me on the big screen tbh

I heard season 2 is not from the books at all

Season 1 wasn’t. Was kind of a re hash of patriot games re the terrorists.

Sum of all fears was a good film. The book was immense. They missed so much out for the film though.

Have you read them to the end?

Sure there was one about a war with Japan then one with China and Russia the bear and the dragon maybe?? Been years since I’ve read them. Have tried some of the follow ins with jacks son being the main man.

I haven't read every book but pretty much watched all the films.

Yeah I recognised bits from season 1, but am surprised they want to write something completely off book.

Sum of all fears film I liked but Afleck as Ryan wasn't for me.

Like you o read stuff years ago and either comes back when I see something or talk about it like now, or it's crossed into other books.

So as an example I read Bourne, reacher and Ryan and now will confuse bits from one to the other

Yeah good books the bourne ones. Read all of those too.

If you like the jack Ryan stuff it’s worth downloading the whole back catalogue. I’m a bit nerdy when it comes to Clancy books as I always liked the detail regarding the weapons, jets, aircraft carriers etc.

Tbh mate finding the time to read now is hard. As I can't just dip in and out of a book. Some folk can read a bit and come back to it in a week or 2. I can with TV series but not books

But yeah like you I too like the detail. One reason I like the tv series over the films is the time it gives to develop characters. Some people find that boring but I like the detail

You got me thinking about re reading the books though. I'll see if I can find and download some, see how it goes

There's 1 about conflict with Iran as well.

Great books. Typical US wins the day **** but still entertaining.

Greer a muslim - got no real problem with that in particular. More put out about his future wife not being a babe! <laugh>

The Greer thing is " american" in that the type of Muslim he is is ok. The whole prayer with beads and stuff is what a rand report said the USA should push as the "right Islam".

    just Americans being american

The bad guys Mrs was better imo. Ryan's Mrs looked "Butch" in parts and "stocky"

Last time I was here a few years back I hired a car and ****ed off to Portugal to Villamoura after a few days. It makes my skin crawl, but the Mrs loves it as she's got scores of mates and family over here so I just keep my head down and wait til it's all over.
