Another win 46-24 for the All Blacks against the Pumas. Whilst the NZ scrummage was largely their first choice, the entire back división was changed. Interesting!!
How brutal? How awful? I am sure the media would have been wishing for another Federer v Nadal final at this year´s US Open. Not that Djoko or Del Potro care a jot. Should be a good final and may the best man win. As for the ladies, I hope Serena goes on to equal Margaret Court´s 24 grand slams and wins one more to créate a new standard, and then calls it a day.
Very ugly scenes at the US Open Woman's final. Serena Williams lost to Naomi Osaka, Williams called the umpire a thief after she received two violations. Then the umpire was escorted off the court rather than receive his award for umpiring the final. And Osaka got booed so badly she started crying.
Terrible that Williams attacks the umpire for sexism in penalising her bad behaviour rather than admit she was wrong. Hardly modelling good behaviour.
I feel really sorry for Osaka. What should have been one of the most amazing moments in her life turned into a sea of anger and chaos. She could barely muster a smile after winning her first Grand Slam for gods sake. Williams should be disgusted with herself. Hope she never wins a slam again.
And she apparently has a history of bad behaviour....I didn't know that. She should have learned some self control with all her experience. Other players argue with the Umpire, but they do it quietly with the Umpire leaning down to listen. I really like McEnroe now as a commentator, but he should have been penalised more as well....and I think he was guilty of doing it to put his opponents off. Very sorry for Osaka... and Williams did try to be gracious at the end, but too late. Osaka won because she deserved to and not because of the Umpire.
It will always be the same with Amir, technically he’s a good fighter and his speed is insane, but as soon as he comes up against anyone who’s world level he’s simply out his depth as Danny G and Canelo proved. As for his chin, I’ve had more durable digestives!
Khan beats Pacquaio now, fight would've been interesting 5 years ago. He beats Brook as well if he doesn't turn into a cocky idiot during the fight, which means he probably loses. His chin isn't granite, but it is nowhere near as bad as people make out. Using the Canelo knock out against him is pretty ridiculous as he stepped up 2 weight divisions for that fight, and Canelo is the biggest guy and puncher in the middleweight division anyway. Was like watching a man vs a boy in terms of size. Khan was winning that fight aswell and boxing well, getting in, landing then getting away before Canelo could catch him. He then got too cocky when he realised he was winning every round and stuck around too long and got caught and the fight was over. He should fight Brook as both of them are finished at world level, they need each other for one last pay day. Neither of them are good enough to beat Crawford/Thurman/Garcia/Spence maybe Porter as well even though Brook has beaten him before. They both chased the money by fighting Canelo/GGG and it has ruined them mentally
Can’t really argue with half of your points apart from if your stupid enough to move up in weight and fight arguably the No 1 P4P fighter on the planet then that doesn’t earn respect in my book that’s just naive arrogance and stupidity. He may well of been winning the rounds but in exchanges he’s always one blink away from getting seriously hurt, Canelo knew this and that’s exactly what happend. You didn’t need to a crystal ball to predict that, it was painfully obvious. Have to disagree with you about his chin , it’s truly terrible , I’m not sure how you can say otherwise , KB knocks him out late on IMO and Manny is a 50/50 fight.
Agreed. Good to see someone different winning a slam. I feel the women´s game is gradually becoming much more open now as Serena Williams becomes less dominant and domineering. I feel the Men´s game Will experience something very similar as there doesn´t appear to be anyone that dominant in the early 20s age bracket. Well done to the Jamie Murray and Matteck-Sands on their doubles success. I suspect if anyone was picking a doubles partner Jamie Murray and Mike Bryan would be top of the list.
Felt so bad for Osaka collecting the trophy. That has to be the worst ceremony I've seen. What a cringe fest. I think Serena is an outstanding sportsperson, but boy did she let herself down with that outburst.
What an idiot Serena is. I can't believe she played the sexism card too after her being a Diva. Poor Naomi Osaka. Also well done to Djokovic.
https://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/24/...s-after-epic-meltdown-at-australian-open.html ^^^There seems to be some perception that McEnroe should have been penalised more. The reality is that he was constantly being fined (in an age where the fines were much closer to the prize money), constantly getting warnings, code violations and was even thrown out of the Australian Open.
