For two years, we've had a "united", smug EU making a weak Theresa May bid against herself. Now, suddenly, there's a possibility that Boris the Hard Brexit may knock Theresa off her perch. And, with all the bad stuff that's going on presently in the EU and the potential loss of exports to the UK that a no-deal would entail, the EU are starting to get nervous. The balance is changing.

Not one euro should be paid to them until we have a decent trade deal going forward. Canada plus. Tariff-free trade in goods, not subject to EU law or institutions, controlling EU immigration and no more money paid to the EU.

    Spot on Goldie.
The country's best bet is to get rid of May so the chequers deal gets scrapped. We are already given them too much and according to one of The Times journalists, it will only get watered down even more.
As someone said 'it will be leaving without leaving and having no say at the table'.
    We need a strong leader.

May won't get a watered down Chequers through Parliament, Ellers. She either has to give in to the Boris effect and change her direction, or as you say, Boris may replace her and with a much tougher agenda on the EU.

I'm not a great Boris fan, but he's right on Brexit, and if he comes in for a term or the end of this term to push the thing through, so be it.

Agree, Boris can say some stupid things but at least he will be tougher than her. I have lost all faith/confidence in her. She gave away our barging chip. That chequers deal is a surrender from a remainer. Get rid ASAP.
I also agree on the money. Not a penny until we get a decent deal.
The EU will probably cave in as they are in trouble from so many directions. I only heard yesterday that they are now having problems with Hungary. The whole EU dream is falling down and yet people still want us to be part of it. <doh>

The EU needs to loosen up. The one size fits all model is not working, particularly in the face of huge outside pressures like immigration from Africa, which will only get worse. A more flexible model rather than threats of punishment beatings will secure the future of Europe by agreement and cooperation. The huge unaccountable, nepotistic bureaucracy of Brussels needs to be cut down to a minimum and more power taken back into national governments. Brussels is simply gross at present.

Funny you should say that Watford because after all the project fear/cliff edge/no deal/food banks/city collapsing and going to Frankfurt (<laugh>)/second vote/marches in London/flags at the proms/medicines and so on...
It now looks like the EU is 'Desperate Dan' and will do anything to get a deal...if that is the case what will happen to all this second vote crap and Labour changing its tune (again) and (again) and (again)?
Funnily the remainers are quiet at present? :emoticon-0127-lipss

Is that how you’re reading it? The EU’s position, unlike our own, has been consistent throughout. Of course they aren’t keen to see the back of us but I’ve not seen anything to suggest it’s the end of the world for them as throughout, this has always been something that will hurt us more than them.

Labour aren’t in power, mate. They could have the best Brexit plan in the world and it would mean about as much as you or I writing something on the bag of a *** packet at that nice pub in the Lexicon.

I have never been to the Lexicon but I may have a look at some point. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Come on Watford tell me you didn't write that? EU and Consistent? <laugh> I must post an article about them and how consistent they are.

That is wrong as well. You are slipping Watford.

We cant now mate. We would get treated worse than before. There is no going back now.
Personally, I would take staying in over Chequers because it is the same thing without a say.

Doesn’t seem to be anything about this in the national news, just local. Odd, seemed like a brief burst of anarchy, special police powers etc.

A no deal is end of days for everyone
At least have the decency to think about it and take off your blinkers to the impacts
No point even thinking about various wars breaking out example trade etc All you will get then are a very silly bunch of U.K. nationalists with just words ... nothing more

Brexit is fully accepted and this U.K. government will go down as the worse since post WW2 with Churchill... all very embarrassing imo

Mob of rampaging kids attacked someone who was trying to hide in a shop. Police invoked some special rule requiring people to leave the area and not return. All at 5.30 in the afternoon. Strange.

Funnily I only heard today something completely different. Were you one of those people who thought we should have accepted the Euro as our currency?
As for 'blinkers', you don't know me or what I think. You should believe in your country rather than put it down all the time.
