IF there was a claim for compensation I'm sure Celtic FC could wriggle out of it if they so wished because the simple fact of the matter is that no one has ever claimed to have been abused at Celtic Park, the abuse was carried out at Celtic Boys Club:

The Celtic Boys Club was formed in 1966 with the simple aim of providing youngsters in Glasgow with the opportunity to take part in organised games of football. Based in a hall in Maryhill, initially the club was run totally independently from Celtic FC by a group of volunteers who were given permission from Robert Kelly to use the Celtic name. Links with Celtic were strengthened when the Hoops allowed the Boys Club to use the Barrowfield training complex on London Road.

Celtic FC scout John Higgins recognised the potential benefits of Celtic Boys Club to the professional club and subsequently a semi-formal arrangement was made where the Boys Club Under-16 side would act as a nursery for young players Celtic scouts had identified as having potential to make it in the game – although youngsters playing with the Boys Club were under no obligation to sign professionally with Celtic.

 

Utterly baffling and quite disgraceful that you hide behind that bullshit.

 

I'm not hiding behind anything, you asked a serious question and I provided you with a serious answer.

I simply pointed out that none of the abuse which has been alleged, happened within the confines of Celtic Park or was carried out by employees of Celtic FC.

IF there was a claim for compensation Celtic could claim - if they so wished - that it had nothing to do with them. Neither of these things have happened (at Celtic) as far as I'm aware.

 

I asked what you personally thought. You believe the line that they were seperate entities and that there maybe was or maybe wasn't abuse. I find that baffling.

You did no such thing.

All the information is in the public domain. Torbett was convicted years back and to date none of the victims have approached Celtic FC for compensation as far as I'm aware. My guess is that's because Torbett was not an employee of Celtic FC, that's not me attempting to distance Celtic from the events it's a simple fact and my personal reading of the legal situation.

A spokesman for Celtic told BBC Scotland the Boys’ Club was a “separate and distinct” organisation from Celtic Football Club but asked anyone with concerns to contact them. They added: “It was vital that justice was served at that time, due to the extremely serious nature of this issue. Celtic Football Club considers that it is of the utmost importance that football, other sports organisations and indeed all areas of society ensure that the issue of safeguarding is given the attention it deserves.”

Ok, do you persoanlly think that despite the "officail line" that Celtic Boys Club and Celtic were linked and that Celtic have covered up years of child abuse and that thankfully, the chcikens are coming home to roost?

 

I honestly don't know if it was covered up, the only people who do know what happened and if it was covered up are dead or simply will never admit it.

This whole "Big Jock Knew" thing came about because one solitary individual, Hugh Birt (who had himself previously been sacked by Celtic) , gave evidence that Stein kicked Torbett out of Celtic when he discovered the abuse. No one has ever agreed with his allegation, no one has ever substantiated it nor backed it up. No one.

One thing I do know is that George Stein, Jock's son, was at Celtic Boys Club during Torbett's tenure. Why would Jock have allowed his own son to be looked after by Torbett if he had any inkling of what was going on? It makes zero sense.

Those are the simple facts.

...however, by the time Torbett was allowed back, Jock was dead, so maybe the Kellys and the Whites have questions to answer, they must have heard whispers by then. Who knows?
