What a load of revisionist toss. No-one who was actually at Boothferry Park watching us under Dolan or Hateley, the early days of Little or Taylor or Jan Molby's team can possibly claim this stuff. Not even anyone who remembers Phil Parkinson's team or the bag of crap that Phil Brown somehow kept in the Championship. Mind you, if everyone who claims to have been a City supporter all their life actually was, I would have been stood at Boothferry Park with 24,000 others, not 3,999.
I think Pearson needs to play more fluid and give the midfielders a licence to push up further and roam around the pitch a bit. It's as if he wants his central midfield to just stand on the spot and not pass the half way line. He's brought in good players and we have a team capable of causing damage in this league but for some reason it's not working and Koren aside, how many goals have we had from midfield during Pearsons era. Has anyone once seen a central midfielder make a run infront of the forwards while Pearsons been here?
it was ****, but at least there where chances and shots on goal... how many saves did the reading keeper make on saturday? if it wasnt for that wonder goal/cross..wed have been there till midnight and wouldnt have scored again..how many home games in the last year has there keeper even needed gloves? yes, the players are better, obviously..as for what there serving up, thats a different story..i dont care whether you believe if i was at boothferry park, as much as i care about your boring 400 page match reports of weve already seen with our own eyes..thanks.
I don't think it's 'revisionist toss' as you put it, he's got a point. I've been a season ticket holder since 1993 and I have seen, like a lot of posters on here, the worst of the worst that we've been through as a club, but no matter what we had a feeling of togetherness and Saturday afternoon was always the highlight of the week. For the past 4 years I do a 150 mile round trip to watch City at home and when it gets to a Saturday and the feeling you have is '****ing hell here we go again' you have to ask yourself why! Personally, I'd sacrifice the KC, the Premier League dream and the over paid numpties that we emply to go back to BP and stand in the pissing down rain with the other 3,999 as you put it, that was far more enjoyable!!
Interesting how one poster is taken to task for his poor English and grammar, yet those same people leave alone an equally poor post, the difference being, presumably, they agree with this one.
Theo's right, I've only been supporting City since 2002 and I've seen a lot worse football than under NP.
What the mods should do is set up a sticky thread for people who want to moan and whinge as most of the ones who come on here to do it aren't worth reading, apart from the odd one like Percy. Tigersteve is the worst, reading his comments is like being sat in the dentists waiting room listening to the drill when it's your turn next, without the ignore function his comments make my eyes bleed.
For those who don't know Pat, he was s regular poster on 606, he might never win a literary award, but his City credentials are beyond question. I've been going to City since '76 and this doesn't come close to the worst football I've seen, in fact, it's ****ing stunning compared to some of the garbage I've watched over the years. We'd all like big spending, fast flowing football, but for now, I'm happy with window on window improvements and that's what I think we've seen.
While I agree in part with the sentiment Pat, I find myself having to explode the myth that this team cost nothing to put together, since the Allams took over NP (starting in January) has spent in the region of £5 million on transfer fees, that puts us in the top 6 for spending in this Division between January and the close of this window, that kind of investment if used wisely should be sufficent to see a team compete for promotion at this level, lets hope NP has spent wisely!
Bit early for all the in-fighting isn't it? I know it's a bit hypothetical, but win the next two games and we could be 2nd in the table. If TWS lose the next two they could be bottom. (we could also win both a stay 13th - so my point is ........... it's a bit early to write off NP or the team). Lets wait until next April and then call for his head! Or not. My guess is he'll be a hero by then.
its not even fast flowing football we want..its just looking like theres half a chance we might stick it in the onion bag, which at the end of the day, is the idea.....of course the football now, is of a higher standard to a degree, due to the level we are playing...a better way to put it is, ive never seen a city team look so unlikely to score...even a jamie wood/jason harris strike partnership mustered up a few shots, granted most of them went in row z, but at least they had a go ...cant remember the exact stats but its something like 8 wins in 28 home games now, havent scored in 13 of those 28? its mind numbing at least losing 4-3 to york or scarborough kept you awake.
This, and as I've only been going to City for about 12 years, I can honestly say this is the least I've ever enjoyed it. My feelings towards to City can be summed up by my good friend Scroobius Pip, "Love you too much to leave, don't like you enough to stay". I'm still prioritising City home games over literally everything else even though I hate going to them, what's all that about?
DJ You have had it in for Pearson from the off and him getting rid of Ash didn't help your feelings no doubt? You must be able to see what he s had to do in his time here? Take on a team with virtually no confidence after relegation,A team who hadn't won away for 18 months,Reduce our massive wage bill, totally change the average age of our squad, Then have the club nearly go bust! That is why to me the stats your pointing out need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Judge him at the end of this season with his Team and half the problems we faced last season . Rosenior,Stewart ,Brady,Chester, koren,Fryatt are not boring players and we will not be a boring team.
your right, i have , i get a gut feeling about managers/players..and ive never been sure about him from day one, we where warned his style was boring, and your on risky ground whn thats your style, if your putting everything on just results, the pressure is on straight away... fair points about the difficulties hes endured, but theres still no excuse for some of the stuff hes done in my opinion..i wont bore everybody with the stories of reading and qpr and nobody in the box again i dont theres any need for his attitude on the radio, 1 up front v palace, i could go on and on but ill just depress myself... just everything about him really...ill gladly hold my hands up if he gets us going up near the top, but i seriously dont think thats ever going to happen, hope im wrong....i also dont hold ashbee aginst him too much, if stories that he was been led astray might be true, i dont know the facts..but rumour was it he wouldnt offer a 2 year deal, then offering one to a midfielder 1 year younger did frustrate me a bit too.
