We got 1.75m for Gradel. Missed out on players in the transfer market. Our existing players have somehow become new signings. We're expected to open the ESU for the scum (or "United", as he put it - ****er) game and there will be 35-37k in attendance (this means they will be allocated 5,400 seats).
£1.75million? So we turn down £2.5million from West Ham and Bates bullshits about how a club would need to triple their offer to get him. Shambles.
Best Fans, while I can accept that we should not sell to divisional rivals and that the SE deal might have been cash down in full versus a payment plan from WH, I don't know what I can believe anymore.
Think he said West Ham's offer was actually 1.5m and also mentioned unwanted installments over several seasons in a previous interview.
The £1.75m figure may be after paying the sell on fee to Leicester, which I believe was 20%,so could be about right.
Who gives a toss what he says. At best its bullshit, at worst barefaced lies. Take your pick. He can say what he wants, its his club and his radio station. Personally will never listen to one of his interviews anymore and id suggest others do the same, hes just messing with your heads
you could always use the same Beckford argument ....... What would his goals be worth to the team to keep him untill the contract ran out ? or better still what will he be paid in france then match it ?
"Max isn’t going anywhere and that’s the end of the matter. We already had one offer and that was from West Ham. I think Max will have finished his career by the time they would’ve finished paying it. They haven’t got any money. So, Max is a very big part of our squad and he will continue to be so." My favourite Bates quote from a week ago.
Gradel's reason for leaving wasn't so much money orientated but the fact his family are in France. I hope we've included a sell on clause as I don't think he'll like the winter in central/eastern France-its bloody freezing! Can't see him at St Etienne beyond this season & may well seek a move to Marseilles or Monaco where its a damn sight milder in January. Sorry, did I mention Monaco? It's that Bates connection again!
My favourite quote used to be: "I haven't laughed so much since Ma caught her tits in the mangle." Sadly, he is no longer a laughing matter.
As Eire said, Bates is a bullshit merchant. Even those who think he was the saviour of this club are starting to resent him.
If he were so unhappy about that, he wouldn't have moved to England in the first place and he would have brought his siblings with him. Surely? He doubt doubt has enough money to do so. We had every right to keep him even despite his transfer fee and we chucked 15+ goals down the drainpipe for a miserable fee. A disgrace.
Can be found here: http://www.thesquareball.net/what-ken-said/2011/09/01/leeds-united-transfers/ Key highlights: Stupidly low amount, Grayson will see none of it, doesn't even reach us immediately. Why not just keep Gradel?! We are the masters of the situation. WE OWNED GRADEL'S CONTRACT. He was originally contracted to Leeds United, not St Etienne. Only for him to lose out again on players because of the wage threshold. What's the point in giving him money - and let's face it, there's no evidence to suggest that you are doing so - that he can only spend on **** players anyway? Thank you very much? You can smell the money from here, can't you? Which part of the East Stand Village will this match be paying for? And never refer to those scum bastards as 'United', you Chelsea ****ing scumbag. WE ARE UNITED. Welcome news on this front. East Stand Upper had better be bloody ready for it. Total embarrassment if we can't even muster 33,000 against the scum due to a stupid construction site limiting our capacity. I'm filled with confidence in your negotiating prowess.
