Yeah when that revelation came out I was pretty "meh" about it to be honest.
If it tastes enough like Beef so that no one noticed, and there are no possible ill effects regarding health, then......

I understand they had to get in trouble business wise, and ethical wise because they were selling something and calling it something else.
But otherwise, I wasnt all that bothered.

    And probably enjoyed it too.

Can't see it ever taking off over here if they ever tried to sell it in the supermarkets. Which is a shame, its good meat!

We're a funny lot this side of the water.

Duck is lovely but one duck feeds two adults, tops.

We're talking roast dinners so, unless there is just the two of you (or even one, saddo), then duck don't cut it in that respect.

    Tastes bloody good of course.

If you've travelled anywhere across the middle east you'll have had goat mate.

Another great meat if cooked properly.

Dont think I have ever had duck as part of a roast dinner.
I usually eat it with pancakes and hoisin sauce :)
Might give a roast duck dinner a go....what sauce would compliment it, cant really have hoisin with yorkshires and roast potatoes

I've had west indian goat curry. Very nice.

There was this West Indian takeaway down in Cardiff Bay that mates of mine had a flat over. **** knows if it's still there but was very good.

There's a recipe in Rick Stein's food heroes book I use.

    It ****ing amazing.

Been looking to see if it's on line so I can post but the **** has it all sewn up so you have to buy the book.

It involves having some blackcurrant jelly to stir into the sauce and you serve with mash and petit pois a la francaise. You might not like it, given you hate France and all.

    Whats petit pois la francaise?
I know petit pois means peas, but how do french style peas differ from ours? Just curious.....

It's cooked with little gem lettuce and spring onions and you use a beurre manie to thicken the sauce.

Beurre manie is softened butter with flour in, essentially.

Very nice indeed: Roast duck with the blackcurrant sauce, the special French peas and mash.

    Et voila!
