Come on you Boatmen!....4-1 and another Dan Mason hat-trick is my prediction...<badger>

First home game of the season, should be a bumper crowd hopefully.

@SholingFC - is that a fairly new ground. I remember playing at Sholing, but I don’t recall it being in an open space like that photo. I seem to picture a tight ground with one end up against a building behind the goal, that sort I’ve overlooked the pitch? Was 30 years ago mind.

Without trying to steal SholingFC's thunder, you are thinking of the the now sadly departed Sholing Sports FC which lost that ground at Birch Lawn along North East Road (behind the Sholing Sports social club) in Sholing in the mid 90s. I used to follow them in the late 70s, early 80s (slightly before your time?) because a couple school friends from Weston Park Boys played for them and Trevor Roberts who went on to sign for Pompey and even our games teacher!. I remember one season they played Totton FC and the winners would win the Hampshire League, I think that there were several hundred squeezed into the tiny ground that night.

Here is their now demolished ground...

Sholing FC are basically the old Vosper Thornycroft FC (hence the "Boatmen" nickname) that changed their name a few years ago and they still play at the old VTFC ground along Portsmouth Road.

Cheers SA. That’s the place and it must have been the social club that was behind the goal. I played there about 86/87/88 time a couple of times.

Good 1-0 away win in the replay for the Boatmen, although the goals have dried up a bit!...David Brent's team Slough away in the next round, just the 3 levels above Sholing in the pyramid!...:emoticon-0107-sweat

Was two tough games against Hamworthy, they have a very good defence, marshalled by Walker who was Dorchester's captain for several seasons.

Slough will be a challenge, they had an excellent season last year and have a good record in the FA Cup (they lost to Rochdale in 2nd round proper in 17/18). But we have nothing to lose and everything to gain and will give it a real good go.

Game is on Saturday 22nd Sept 3pm at Slough Town.
