Not a Newcastle Brown Ale in sight.!!!! I remember my first taste of the stuff in the Sunderland bar before a Watford game in the late sixties, before motorways were built. I'm sure we drew 3.3. Keep your chin up Dave.
The original rocket men! Elton’s smiling again… just like time Taylor got a tune out of Watford Great read.
Morning all. A heavy mist, or is it fog, at the start of the day. The seasons are changing slowly, but there is now a warning about allergies caused by plants shedding their seeds early because of the drought. Hay fever in the Spring is common, but similar symptoms are now being experienced by many. According to the forecast no rain during the next ten days to dampen things down.
I have been stung by a real life hornet. It is quite painful and can be quite serious if you are not in good health. Mme suffered a burn a few years ago and one of our neighbours has some healing powers. She spent a couple of minutes with her and the pain completely disappeared. As my sting feels like a burn I might see her in the morning if it is still inflamed.
Morning all. Yesterday no rain was forecast, yet this morning a light drizzle is coming down. Are forecasters relying on the swish technology they have these days rather than Tom giving Harry a ring to tell him it is raining here and heading your way? My hornet sting is not too bad now, feels as though I have just come out of a bed of nettles. Still waiting to get my computer back. I am not happy using a tablet that only has limited battery life.
I dare say that like me they didn't see it coming. . I now have a strange little lump where the blighter got me, but I am sure that I will come back stronger and not be scarred for life.
You have to look at the hats Wales and Ireland supporters are wearing to confirm why their teams are in group B 4. [emoji6] Sent from my G3121 using Tapatalk
My 15 year old granddaughter has just moved into the French equivalent of a sixth form college. She had been there for three days before she had an English lesson. Up until then no one in the class realised that she was English. She is now the center of attention as her class mates all want to check their pronunciation with her. Seemingly they thought that she didn't have a local French accent, but it does vary a great deal depending on where you live. I was quite surprised once to be told pretty accurately which part of the country I live in.
It shouldn't be a surprise Frenchie. German accents can also vary a great deal. I learned German in Hamburg, which they say is the purest German after Hannover. Then we moved to the Cologne area - the German there is about their equivalent of a cross between Geordie and Scouse, and the worst thing is they're actually proud of it and accentuate it deliberately.
Just a thought from my post above. Knowing that we have people here who live abroad or spend time there, are you immediately picked up as English, sometimes before you even open your mouth. In the same way those who have lived in different parts of the UK, have you now regional accent? . it was only when I recorded a message for my answer phone that I found I have Northants one overlaid with some Herts, but no longer Watford.
