Just thought I'd join the trend of phishing other people here with another stupid thread.. So.. Whats your Sunday favourite? Beef, Lamb, Pork (exceptions allowed), Chicken, Turkey, Goose or a Maccy D's..? Lamb for me, cooked tender, a decent half-leg gas mark 3 upside down for 90 mins and then gas mark 4 for 90 mins right side up and either minted or Rosemary skewered... Love a quarter pounder cheese burger from maccy d's too after a skinful, which isn't often now..
Toss up between beef and lamb for me, probably say if both are cooked to perfection, beef just edges it. Although having said that, the gammon down a Toby Carvery is porn on a plate.
Good thread Joe, had this conversation with her at the weekend. She says lamb, and I'd agree it has the most flavour. I bloody love roast chicken though. Especially in France. If I'm out I never order chicken though, usually order beef as it's then hopefully pink. My Mrs is a very good cook but she over cooks beef always. It should be rare, even if a roast. Her Mum is worse, she brings a side of beef round on Christmas day you could make shoes out of. Like them all really, would never order turkey when out though. If you're out why order the least tasty? Save that for Christmas (while ignoring the beef). Pork is great too, especially with well cooked crispy crackling. To sum up, all of them. Bar the McD burger.
A leg of lamb always works slow cooked but something else I like is a well made Shepards Pie...with a few Indian spices thrown in for my own twist. A bit of oil, a couple of medium sized onions, diced, a teaspoon of garlic/ginger paste, handful of cumin seeds...when onions get transparent and start to brown..throw in the mince...A pinch of chilli, salt, Cumin powder, coriander powder...a handful of peas and a bit of plain flour to bind it, not much though...don't want it sticky. Once cooked throw in a generous amount of chopped fresh coriander. Potatoes boiled, butter, milk, black pepper and a bit of salt...mash it up well. Layer the mashed potato on top of the mince and grate some cheese over it...stick in oven for around 20 minutes. Serve with fresh salad
If someone wants something from me in my house a leg of lamb usually works best! Lamb's lush but mutton, if you can get it, beats it hands-down! Love a bit of pork belly but pork tends to be as rare as rocking horse **** in this house for some reason
It's weird, love bacon, sausage, black pudding etc. Yet pork is the only roast I somewhat dislike, maybe dislike is a bit strong as I can eat it an all, though I need a **** load of apple sauce to make it taste real good, ****ing love crackling though.
You prefer the crackling skin to the meat..? A good sex therapist would have an input to that, I don't but I'm sure there's a few wannabe sex therapists on this board..
Not a fan of lamb. It’s the thought of eating baby anything that puts me off. Beef cooked rare wins every time. Turkey is **** and usually dry. Prefer chicken. Pork can be excellent especially if you get a rare breed one. Gloucester old spot is superb, whether it’s a leg or a shoulder .
I don't find that weird as I only eat **** pork too, if I'm gonna get a proper joint why would I want ****ing pork. Beef for me.
