Sure they did. More like they were desperate to get a big name and Pellegrini wouldn't accept a sacking clause

It certainly would be a challenge for fat sam to achieve a contract with no sacking clause.

Hard to believe our lack of success in relation to spending since the beginning of the Premier League, we've even spent more than Man U.<yikes>

Spurs have **** all to show for their spend and not far behind. At least we can point to 3 cl finals and 1 Europa final.

Unless they want to start counting top 4 or 2nd place as success, as we can't :bandit:

Bournemouth figure is weird as they have only been in prem last few seasons.

I know fees have recently gone silly but seems odd the figures quoted for them.

Mate, we can point to far more than that. Since the beginning of the Premier League we've won -

    3 F A Cups
    4 League Cups
    2 Charity Shields
    1 European Cup
    1 UEFA Cup
    2 Super Cups

Spurs - 2 League Cups. That puts them a long way behind in terms of comparing us on spend and what we have to show for it.

Yaya Toure left Manchester City this summer after eight years with the club, and joined Olympiakos on 2 September

It's all true. can't argue with that table. we have been very regular and consistent spenders. I think the npv calculation is a good one.

it does push us up as we've been spending at a rate since 1992 with only 2009to 2016 say as hard times.

you can see city are only Johnny come latelys to the party...

however.... 1992... when football was invented. a different table exists in the 5,10,15 and 20 year time frames so to go back to 1992 say a it's got a bit of an agenda.

for your spurs friends... it's what 25 years? and 300mil total not even net but just gross spend so.... 10 and a bit mil total npv.

well guess what.. spurs probably today have a transfer budget that's 10mil less than us so....

you have to realise that npv means a fee in last 5 years is worth a lot less by compounded inflation than say a fee in 1998.

for example rio Ferdinand fee is probably vast part of utds adjusted number than Jordan ones 15 mil fee.

so the teams who spend big way back and set records are probably at top of list.

what i dont know is the rates at which the npv was calculated. was it market inflation in football or rate of inflation annually in UK
    over years.

more appropriate would be mahrez. He was never ever getting a work permit in UK if UK was outside eu. he was 500k for an absolute no name.

if UK applies same rules it applies to players like Allan from Brazil then the prem is ****ed.
