Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas both in today’s stage for Team Sky as they head up to Shipham on the way to Cheddar Gorge. The ultimate test of riding along Chilcompton Broadway awaits them...
About 3 times as many police motorbikes as actual bicycles! Not to mention the vast column of cars going along behind! Geraint looking good though
I know! I found the police and marshal motorbikes really fun to watch and the riders seemed to be having a good time I must say, it was all very well organised and thankfully went off without a hitch throughout our area, even the rolling road blocks didn't cause any problems. Mind you, the sight of the three ambulances at the end was a bit worrying! How is Scott Davies doing today? KotM yesterday and a lad from my county so looking out for him as well as Geraint.
@Le Tissier's Laces do you know much about this Norris kid who is replacing Vandoorne at McClaren next year?
Personal opinion? Too much, too soon. Being on a team with expectations (realistic or not), an often-dodgy car, and alongside a veteran like Sainz isn't an easy combination. While he was a fair bit older, the situation reminds me a little of the guy he's replacing. Vandoorne was pretty dominant in GP2, and while he hasn't been particularly good in F1 he looks far worse because he's alongside a guy capable of dragging a really bad car to a points position with regularity. Sainz isn't Alonso, but being on a bubble team means that if Sainz is regularly getting 9th/10th and Norris is picking up 12th/13th, it's going to look like a huge gulf between them.
Yeah, I spoke about him at the beginning of the year. He's a good driver, but I don't honestly see him as any better than Vandoorne, and he's certainly not special like Leclerc. The two best kids in F2 are both British - him and George Russell - along perhaps with someone like Nick De Vries, but we're really not talking about the potential A-grade here - Vettel/Hamilton/Alonso. He'll be more Coulthard at best.
Just heard an interview with him, he sounds really weird. Can't place the accent. I googled him and apparently he is from Bristol, sounds nothing like anyone I know from round here.
And my uncle was headmaster of the junior school there, so it’s clearly all gone pear shaped for them!
Names I recognise. The list of qualified golfers, that I read this morning, was pretty much “WHO?” Having said that I don’t follow golf as much as I used to, so some of them may be really very good. Sadly I recognised all of the golfers representing the USA, mainly because their team contains so many major winners.
Wallace not getting picked is a bit of a joke, The inform man on the European tour and has won 4 events this season. Garcia should not be in the team he's been very poor at best this season and looks to me as if he's been picked purely because he is Bjorn's mate.
I do like Sergio, but I think he’s clearly there for his off course contribution and he’s Bjorn’s mate. He could have gone to be there as a non-player. That’s the one I worry about biting us.
Yeah i agree i think he would have been a perfect vice captain, I also think one of the reasons for leaving Wallace out is the the amount of already British players on the team and picking 3 English men in his wild cards may have played a part in his decision.
Another reason to dislike American football....had to turn off Sky (and believe me that takes a lot)….as shouty people were doing something called the draft. Americans should be told not to shout because it is seriously annoying and makes them sound stupid. Still it's nice and quiet with the TV off.
