I suspect Mr Crooks has little to do with the team, apart from lending his name. There is obviously a simple algorithm, based as you say on scoring a goal (and being news worthy) which chooses the "team". I like it when they force several players into unlikely positions to accommodate this.
People do get hung up on his purely attacking attributes. but winning the game is more than about scoring. He played the final 30 against Everton, first 60 against Palace and Leicester. Our best periods of control and we've only conceded one goal in all the minutes he's been on the pitch. Long plays a support role and is exactly what we need right now a ball of pace, energy and physicality, exactly what we've been lacking up front. Long will chip in with goals but Ings/Austin/Gabbi can be the main scorers.
Just want to say that I am a big fan of Long but still don't think he is very good at footing the ball!
Yup! Haha! Can't even type it... What hideous thing does it say about my subconscious that my response to niggle was to make that joke?
When we used to say that........we never thought of it as a racist comment.......nor did we think of it as anything to do with any particular race. It was just a poem.......just words. We had no idea it could or would offend anyone especially as we had 3 black people in our class. They would join in with the rhyme but none of my class mates to my knowledge would associate the words with them.
Someone with inside knowledge (at his kids' school) tells me that you couldn't wish to meet a nicer person. Vin
Same as the word for a certain shade of brown ...never associated it with people at all. Have to say that yesterday I had to describe a particular colour someone had chosen for a car...couldn't think how to describe it, so lowered my voice and whispered it in my friend's ear....being of my age she knew what I meant. Would never use it now because it does offend people, but never made the connotation when I was young....luckily as that was the description of my Grammar School uniform.
