    Any ex ravers out there?

Surely has to be a few on. I'm way too young for the early rave scene but was loved it for a few years after I turned 18. Used to do a bit of hardcore and (mainly) dnb/jungle.

I haven't been to one for years and am trying to be convinced into going to one soon and not sure about it.

Got me thinking about memories from it though and wondered if we had any ex ravers?

I was living in East Anglia at the time it was fun but exhausting.

Pulps Sorted for E's & Wizz sums it up well.

I lost my friends, I dance alone
It's six o'clock, I want to go home
But it's "no way, " "not today"
Makes you wonder what it meant
And this hollow feeling grows and grows and grows and grows
And you want to call your mother
And say "mother, I can never come home again
'Cause I seem to have left an important part of my brain somewhere
Somewhere in a field in Hampshire, all right"

Not raving but was well into clubbing mid to late 90's. Used to love house nights across the SW and Midlands. Birmingham was a favourite, Bakers especially and also Gatecrasher and Wobble.

Some great nights down where I live S Wales and also Hereford believe it or not.

Was a great scene, no mither from anyone and certainly no jumping about with glow sticks.

    Yeah.

    Used to go into brum.

    Andromeda nights at the institute.

    Coast to coast

    Tin tins

    Q club

    Subdissential

    Money penny’s

The steering wheel for club slag

    Bakers

    Stoodi bakers.

Some of those places were early house music nights. Early days was the original rave scene. Saw the likes of top buzz, stu Allen, mickey finn, grooverider.

Then when the house scene took over the same venues all had house nights. The wheel was my favourite with its slag night.

Money Penney’s was always a bit pretentious. As unless you looked the bollocks you weren’t allowed in. If they thought you looked amazing they would let you in free. Got in free on most occasions, wearing second hand vintage 70’s clothing.

Forgot about wobble. Loved wobble. In the house music days we did bakers on a Wednesday, slag Friday wobble Saturday.

Wobble was knocked down and is now flats.

We'd go to Wobble after Bakers. Be ****ed by then.

Loved Bakers, mate of mine was a resident there so we always got in gratis. He won some MixMag comp for a Hacienda residency and then became Bakers resident, although it was his mate Scott Bond's night.

Moneypenny's was ok but not worth the mither to look 'glam'. Was bollocks most of the time.

Highly likely we would have been there the same nights. We used to get in free when a guy from Worcester played there.

I was into the early acid house scene back in the late 80’s. Then got into the festival circuit and illegal parties and raves.

Went to some absolutely epic nights back in those days. Basically you just heard about it word of mouth that here would be a party somewhere. Then rock up and hope the police hadn’t got there and shut it down before it got going.

Best one I went to was on castlemorton common back in the early 90’s. There was a group called spiral tribe who used to put on free parties. That one had around 40,000 people rock up and went on for days. The police knew they couldn’t shut it down so they just let us get on with it.

It was so big that it made the news and got loads of media attention. I think it was on the back of that, that the Tory govt brought in the criminal justice bill which tried to criminalise gatherings of more than a few people ‘listening to repetitive beats’

The rave scene is huge in the north east still. I think most people go through a spell of being a raver. The biggest night on in the north east is still a rave. Monta music is the top dog at the moment. Other people around the country knock us for Makina but its always been our thing up here.

The rave at castle Morton was legendary. I was too young. As part of a school field trip we had to go up there a month or so after and there were still needles everywhere. Took years to clear the site up. Still gets talked about round here. Lad I know dj’d at it.

I'd just started Uni in Brum and I used to spend a lot of time around Malvern at the weekends, so I heard it was happening and went along. It was unreal, so many people there. The police were trying to turn people away initially, and then they just gave up due to the huge numbers of people there. They knew they couldn't go in and start smashing heads because there would have been a riot and they knew it was too big to disperse people, so they just sat back and let us get on with it.

Yeah was a bit of a scene up there afterwards though. I used to go back there regularly in the 90's though as it was a great spot for picking shrooms :)

    Yeeees mi general.

I lived for Kool Fm way back when. Tonic and Remedy. Brockie and Debt.

    Loved that ****.

Crazy as my mate Trevor that was just a listener back then with me..now does all their sound edits and sets systems up etc. Not spoke to him for a while but his Instagram would have been **** material in about 1994.
