Basically its to stop San Marino and Gibraltar getting spanked 10-0 by Germany. And to cut down on the endless friendlies.
It's basically a new tournament to be run in non tournament years with groups and relegation/promotion all contributing to qualifying and largely eliminating friendlies. I (as a fan of international football) am actually quite interested to see how it goes, should in theory at least make it more interesting and easy to follow. It will also give 4 qualifying spots in itself to the tournament meaning a minnow will qualify for it. If it goes well I expect there will be a worldwide version before long. don't worry guys... Harry Kane now an injury concern for Southgate.. phew I thought this nations cup meant something.
Could throw-ins help Liverpool winning a trophy? Could throw-ins help Liverpool winning a trophy? It came out last week that Jurgen Klopp has employed a throw-in coach at Liverpool. Thomas Gronnemark told us how he came to specialise in throws and that it's not all about their length... england team in nations cup TAA Gomez Henderson Lallana Why? trippier picks up mysterious bug, sterling out, kane not fit.. alli cries off. etc etc etc. same old same old. LFC players turn up and play then are forced... AMAZINGLY... YET AGAIN... to play 12:30 saturday after international break while their opponents pull players out of internationals left and right.
This is getting a bit OTT isn’t it? What next? A corner taking coach, an offside beating one, an overhead kicking one, a dribbling one, a heading one, a back pass one?
It really is ridiculous, they need to sort these fixtures out, there is plenty that could be done. I like internationals but not during the season they just cause masses of problems. Particularly in todays game it contributes massively to the imbalance between squads imho.
It could be a bit OTT or it could be a difference giving us a thin margin. It is an area that isnt really focussed on in coaching, i will wait to see what happens, though if TAA’s throw in the last game is anything to go by you could be right lmao
Not really, it is a deadball situation that happens many times in a game and we have been rubbish at them for ages. To be fair we do seem to have gotten a little bit better at them in last couple of seasons (klopp effect?) prior to that we would lose possession so often that that I used to squirm whenever we had a throw especially in our half. For me it has always been a part of the game that is overlooked apart from the odd long throw specialist that TV editors love, making better use of them defensively and offensively can only make us more effective overall
