Cheers boys. Proving my point exactly. Calling it lucky to win a cup is undercutting the achievement.
05 has gone down as the greatest comeback of all time. It was sheer effort and determination that won the day. As saint rightly pointed out a fluke is an unexpected piece of luck. What was our unexpected piece of luck in Istanbul?
"Closely followed by Fergie" But tbf Fergie fluked it with his own team, Di Matteo won it with AVB's team.
That a side as good as Milan would collapse or that one of the greatest strikers in Europe would bottle his penalty? Playing devils advocate of course
Very true Both are still flukey ****s though. Funny everyone goes on about 05 and say we was lucky, but no mention ever of 07 when we was very unlucky
I was using it as an example of why calling a team winning the CL lucky is belittling of a teams achievement (in relation to calling Real lucky for winning the CL). Judging from the responses here i think my point is proven as everyone is jumping on something i've mentioned What you guys did in 05 will rightly go down in the CL history as one of the great comebacks
Well......Milan weren't as good a side as they and you thought they were and it was brilliant goalkeeping psychology that made him miss the penalty.
Lots of euphoria today about Man U's win against fellow strugglers Burnley yesterday, Man U had all week to prepare but Burnley played an energy sapping EL qualifier in Greece on Thursday night. It was the perfect game against the perfect opposition for Maureen's temporary comeback.
tbf.. Madrid were let off hugely in sf.. hugely. it was an even final until.bale.score his wonder goal. I prefer to give him credit than Ramos.
Not really. Sis didn't say Real didn't deserve their achievement, he just said they needed a bit of luck to get it. You may think we rode our luck to win, but to say it was "one of the flukiest wins in the world" suggests that it was undeserved. It wasn't.
Yeah, and they haven't really got the squad to handle it. Europey could turn out to be a poisoned chalice for Burnley this year. Interesting to see if/how they bounce back.
