The facts are the facts RP, whether you like them or not, prior to LJ selling JK to Villa our previous record sale was £4m for Ade Akinbyie back in 1999. So for 18 years that record stood and since LJ has been manager he has recouped far more than that long standing record on 4 different players...
Pissed again then Supcon. I saw another 'record' tonight in Lloyd Kelly. We should tie him down asap to a long contract giving us leverage when a big club comes calling. Sure as hell they will. As for the game tonight I could only put up with the cr@p as I had a bet on City. The only positive is I hope it breeds confidence in our players. Bookies aren't generous but Swansea and Wigan are both odds against this w/e. Nearly 5-1 double. Might have some of that.
Fantastic result and I prove why bookies aren't poor. Tremendous performance and Fammy back next week plus a rumoured midfield player joining. Good luck guys.
I think it will be a up and down season (game to game), unlike last, where it was all good for the first part and dreadful after...No cup to worry about, so to get anywhere we will at some point need a decent run...
It will always be difficult to move forward when people want to continually use the second part of last season for stats. We’ve a completely new back four now, goalkeeper and a new forward this season. Yes it was bad but that was the past team. I know we will have a few runs of negative games as well as a few positive runs. But we need to judge the runs on the players we’ve got now. Ps I know it will fall on a few deaf ears.
I am one of those people that does not hero worship LJ, if I think the man has made some idiot suggestions or decisions I am honest enough to call him an idiot, if he makes creditable or wise decisions I will shout the plaudits for him, he is just a plain average manager, he has done nothing astonishing, won nothing and just managed to survive his own ineptness a couple of times, that is why he has produced average teams and average league results so far in his 3 team career, that is what we are and continue to be an average Championship league side. Having stated that I am glad we have got him, compared with some of the dinosaurs and spacce cadets that are being employed at the moment, he is still young and developing his mindset, I am a true, long standing supporter of Bristol City FC , I support the club first and obviously the manager after. The person I admire most in our club is Steve Lansdown, his investment in our club both personal and financial is incredible, it's down to him if our club flourishes or falls, if LJ flourishes or falls, I am neither a 'Luvie or a Hater' just a plain old Joe with an independent opinion, I also openly admit I have not attended a football match at the gate for 2 seasons since the first LJ season debacle, so there are much better informed souls around than me but there are some right trolls around who just like to cause arguments and stir up unrest, I know the ones with honest, personal opinions which I trust and prefer to listen to. I fully understand the differencial between a head coach and manager but LJ carries the leadership and responsibility that both names describe so attribute all to him and I think the overall quality of our team is moving forward. So, 'Up the City' I hope they continue the good performances and become an above average side with LJ in charge.
All managers can make and do make idiotic decisions but I wouldn't call them idiots, they are JUST honest misjudged mistakes. The haters will think that I have a love in with LJ, but that's their opinion and I really don't give a crap......but I do see him as one of our MUCH better managers that we've had over the years since I've been a supporter (50 years+) and blimey we've had some dross here. Just gets my goat, that in LJ, we have a young, enthusiastic intelligent guy that loves the club, which is holding his own in one of the best leagues in the world. Some will say, that he's had zillions to do it with...maybe, but when in a league worth zillions, you need to compete. The hate most have for him dates back to when his dad was manager........all be it YEARS ago! IMO, he's doing a great job......But I do agree with you WIZ, Steve Lansdown is a very important figure at this club and our club is all the better for having him!!
If fans look away from soleley the results, but at team stats there are improvements. The new Keepers distribution is 12% at this point more accurate than Frank Fieldings = City will have a lot more possession to attack with and not defend. Webster is an improvement on Flint if look at accuracy of passing. Different and not a replacement. Its quite obvious without quantifying the above that these players pass the ball better. Moving forward can simply be moving towards a more defined style of football.
So....do the "Backward" voters still think we are going backwards, after 3 wins on the spin? Starting to look quite decent but we have better teams to play than Blackburn.......great result never the less today....well done LJ & team!
As I posted elsewhere Sept is our hardest month, we get a week off an then Sheffutd H , WBA A , Wigan A , Villa H , Villa should have their act together by then and it will be a tough one .. a point would be magic AGAINST POSSIBLY 4 ex City goal scorers!!!!!!!
3 back to back wins, 2 of them against unbeaten teams higher in the league and crashing the top 6 is encouraging. Listening to yesterday’s game it sounded like we played some good stuff. Still too early to label a season a success or failure. There is still time for the wheels to come off, but unlike last season we do not have the distraction of a cup run getting in the way, which some people blame for our strange loss of form after Christmas last season. Whilst I agree we shouldn’t harp back to that poor run last season as a true indication going forwards, it is understandable that it is still lurking in people’s minds and none of us, whatever our opinions on LJ, want another similar run. Of course, if we are top 6 most of the season I would be frustrated and disappointed, like I was last season, but as I have stated before, if we end the season comfortably in this league then I will view the season positively, as that was my expectation before a ball was kicked.
Agents can be pretty greedy people, players can be pretty fickle and there is always a bit of a doubt as why "form suddenly for a few games go purple or dissipitates all together! Assume …. the thoughts might have been we could get into the "prem" .. so would a team like any of the big top 8 come for me then? and I would miss out on a big fat fee and the likely hood of a nice new contract on more money than City might pay me etc etc etc , well thats what my agent says! Of course it may well have just been a collective down turn of form? ! We will never know, THEY DID US PROUD, and earned us some money, we have what we have now and it is the next stage of our history be it good or bad ……………...
