Hamilton. Patient, skilled, mindful. Wins. Vettel, panicked, ragged edge, chases about in best car 5th but promoted to 4th due to unrelated penalty. And that's why imo this championship is now over
He was never staying ahead of vettel anyway. Only one real move by bottas. He just puts drives in their place. Ie behind him or in a ditch. Some day.... he will have competitive engine and will bully the field
Great from Hamilton and Mercedes nailed the strategy. Kimi serves no purpose at Ferrari. Never beats Hamilton, or capitalises when Vettel has issues. The title is effectively done unless Hamilton DNFs.
I know. He made it seem like he had the faster car. I knew Raikkonen couldn't make a one stop work. Called it.
I don't know what Vettel was doing today at the start. He was unlucky to spin out, but it's been another weekend of screwing up with the faster car. He's shown signs of champions drives this season, but also a lot of frantic drives. Far to many unforced errors. How many points has he single handedly given up this season now?
TBH , I feel the W09 in Lewis's hands forced Kimi to blitz his tyre as Lewis was like the Red barron just waiting to pounce at anytime .
Hamilton drove a tremendous race today. He was controlled, patient, and executed brilliantly. I've said many times I haven't always liked him, but he showed again today he is a difference maker. I thought it was one of his most mature performances, in a brilliantly hostile Monza. I'd honestly abolish some of these rubbish Tilkodromes and race at Monza 4 or 5 times a season. Great track. Electric atmosphere.
In the discussions around what wasn't so excellent... Renaults spec C unit blew up in its first race. Honda didn't exactly look brilliant, alhough Gasly was pretty feisty early on. A number of drivers look a little lost: Brendan Hartley Sergei Sirotkin (woefully out of place) Stoffel Vandoorne Marcus Ericsson And controversially... I don't think young Le Clerc has looked so sharp these past couple of weeks- pressure? the first 4 will be lucky to retain a drive. PS did anyone see Jean Eric Vergne on the grid walk today- he's a guy who deserves to come back. Ocon another solid weekend, and Norris waiting in the wings. Changes should be coming next year.
My drive of day was hamilton hands down. Vettel ****ed it. All he needed to do was pull out and then slipstream back by hamilton... everything he did after while some were tasty and some easy was pointless and damage control. Hamilton has this If he can keep it clean
