The one good thing about transfer windows is that they very clearly show what sort of a job a management team is doing establishing talent in a club. So can transfer windows be used to demonstrate and measure competence of managers? From the last two transfer windows it is patently clear how incompetent Phil Brown and Duffen were. We have not been left with any saleable talent, which considering the money they sqandered this is the most difficult and disgraceful aspect of the previous regeme. The fact that we have been left devoid of talent and potential is something the new management team are slowly working to correct. So should all the gloom mongers take a different look at the current management teams philosophy, are they are slowly creating a pool of young players who have massive potential and talent? In time will they become saleable assets? Thoughts
A diferent but a good way to look at the transfer market. My personal though is the transfer window is a fiasco it just inflates the price of all players making it almost impossible for the lesser clubs to be able to buy any reasonable player.
They certainly are buying young players @ cheap prices so the risk is minimal! If they do well for us, the team obviously pushes up the league! If we do have to sell some of our current crop in the future, you can bet your bottom dollar most of them will make City a profit.
Actually that really very perceptive. Coming down from the Premiership we should have had loads of saleable assetts. Actually we couldn't give most of them away, and one or two stuck around like dogshit on your shoes.
Hunt, Mouyokolo, Bullard (if he stayed fit), Oli, Myhill, Ricketts, Geovanni, to name a few. if we were not dangerously in debt when we were relegated we would have been able to sell most of those players for good money.
Yeah, how incompetent was Phil Brown, transforming that Championship team into one which only finished 17th in the Premier League
We only broke even on Hunt and Moyokolo, might of actually Made a loss? Given, we made money on Myhill and Ricketts but they were inherited by Browny weren't they? As for the rest, the one of the comments above nicely sums Bullard, McShane, Oli, Kilbane, Ghilas, Zayette, Gardner etc up! Not one of them was wanted by anyone else, all were Brown signings, NP has had the scape his boots along the grass pretty hard to shift them on!

f#For £100 million I would expect a little bit more in the way of a final league placing and/or some saleable assets left.
Just another thought, in the EPL name one of Brownies loan signings who really made a difference? Sonko? Sh it Big lanky kid from Man U? Sh it Altidore? One goal? Sh it Jan VDHL? Actuall half decent, so I'll give him that one. Missed another actual signing who didn't command a fee when he left, Geo, big disappointment overall Add to this the abysmal sale of Turner(again who he inherited) it all paints a very clear picture of incompetence
Oh one final, last, finishing thought on PB's management capability.....would you have taken Ash to Preston? Before you reply think about the circumstances?
Hullborn, actually I wasn't having a go at Brownie, but if you look at Jobbo's reply you'll see the problem. You put your own finger on it with the comment about injuries. Yes, if Bullard had stayed fit (and not been a cock) we could have sold him at a profit, but we only got him at a knock down price because Fulham knew he was not fit, knew he would get worse, (and judging by what the fans said - knew he was a cock as well!). When you add in to the equation the deal for Turner and you can see the club took it up the ass from someone. Now, I'm not saying it was Brownie, my guess is Duffen, but I don't actually know. And the problem with taking it "par rectum" from someone you don't know is that it can sting for a long time afterwards. Just ask Freddy Mercury. Can we move on now? Please?
What i like about the current management team is that there is no panic buying at the 11th hour (Sonko). I think we'll wait to until the loan window opens next week to look at targets and look to sign them on if they are successful in January. Prices for players begin to get stupid and we shouldn't feel forced to pay over the odds for someone if we can get better acquisitions in the loan market. We have missed transfer targets (Danns, Kilkenny) but in a time when lots of Championship clubs are throwing money around and we are tightening the belt we are bound to be handicapped in that account. The majority of players NP has signed have been successful, people have questioned Mclean and Adebola and maybe rightly so but Mclean has shown promise this season and Adebola is here for a bit of presence up front late in the game, something we missed last season. We are also willing to try players out before commiting ourselves to a contract, for example, Belaid and Amoo. we did hve some success with the former regime, Zayatte, Mcshane, Boateng and Geovanni impressed in their first season, it was really going into our second season in the premier league with the exception of Hunt and big Jan we dropped some clangers in that window.
After the deadline day dust has settled the premier league teams will have to submit their 25 man squad. There will be players who do not make the 25 who could be looked at
All this transfer window has showed is that we're only interested in three types of player: A. Kids who Man Utd don't want. B. Pearson's mates from Leicester. C. Old gets nowhere near good enough for this level who want one last payday. I'd suggest if you're trying to praise the current management, a good start would be to not compare them against the most successful we've ever had, because they don't come anywhere near. Honestly, this is the most ridiculous thread I've ever read.
its what he did after getting to the PL that makes phil brown the incompetant, attention seeking clown he was in the end.
Thought a bit of brownie bating would get your back up TW at Face AKA Percy. Has your mum called you in for your tea? Supper at 8, bed at half past Oh ignore lists don't drop you off if you change your account name, plonker.
