Looking at the photo of Wimbledon's ground it looks like there are standing areas, I can remember standing on a terrace since we played Oxford away in the 105 point season. I loved standing good way to meet your mates without having to plan weeks ahead and to get away from people you don't agree with as well.

Got me to wondering are there many grounds where we can stand this year? If there are I might target those games for my away days.

    The Kingsmeadow is 50% standing

It takes you back to the Roker Park days.

Didn't realise they were literally right behind the dugout.

Yep, stadium of light, I stand nearly every game <laugh>

Thinks a canny few with proper terraces this season though.

Just been checking this out and a lot of grounds with standing terraces keep these for home fans only and put away fans in all seater stands

The Football Association is set to tell a government review that it is in favour of safe standing areas. (Times - subscription required)

No objection at all to standing area's for those that want them, AS LONG AS IT'S NOT COMPULSORY.

For those who want to really enjoy the nostalgia of 'the good old days' perhaps they should site these standing areas where there is no protection from the elements.
Ah' I remember the feeling well.
See little of the game because of the six foot six, twenty five stone bloke who arrived just after kick off to stand in front of me.
    Lost again.
Soaked through and freezing from the rain and sleet.
The stream of p155 rolling down the terraces pooling just where I was standing so my feet were freezing from standing most of the game in it.

    Nostalgia is wonderful.:emoticon-0105-wink:

or just put them in the south stand, the back blocks behind the goal where everybody is already standing anyway. Everywhere in the stadium is baltic anyway especially sat. <laugh>

I loved the old terraces. All right, probably not much fun if you're on the short side, but they were places where the camaraderie and the atmosphere were greatest. Some wonderful memories from those days...

My early introduction to SAFC was slightly odd.
From one parent family from Hendon, I watched from the top tier of the seats because my Mum got a job in the 'canteen' and she took me with her.
A kind steward would come along after about ten minutes after kick off and lead me to a spare seat.

After a couple of seasons she was moved to The Fullwell End where I got the pick of the spots on the back fence.

In those days though the 'Seats' were regarded as the place to be.
You had to be able to afford them for a start.
A bit like a Gentlemans Club, or perhaps The Lodge.
Having a Season Ticket was something that marked the holder out, or so we lesser mortals thought at the time.

Now we can all have one and what happens?
A goodly number wish to stand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love how bloody minded the human race in general can be at times.:emoticon-0100-smile

When I was a youngan my cousin worked at the club so about 5 min after kick off he would open the side gate and let me and my mate in and we just sat in any empty seats, those were the days<ok>

I remember the first time I went in the seats at Roker, against Steaua Bucharest in a pre-season friendly.

I thought it was ****, and was back in the Roker Wing on foot when season kicked off.

I’m still, to this day, not really sure what to do with myself sat down at the match.

    OK I'll admit it ...
I never sat down at Roker Park
    ...ever
It was always the Fullwell, Roker or Clockstand paddock (once)
