Notwithstanding the level of opposition, some players look absolute crap. Kenedy, Ki, Diame, Perez, Atsu have all been absolutely dreadful, across all four games now.

Does anyone subscribe to the opinion that we should all be happy to have players like David SIlva in the Premier League, as the commentator has just said?

How many people watch football for the fun of it? As opposed to following a particular team? I personally loathe the fact that Man City have gone from being a middling side to spending about £1.5bn on footballers in 10 years. I daresay net spend isn't much lower, they rarely sell anyone. But I find it absolutely sickening that the divide is so wide and want to punch FIFA, the PL and whoever else for letting it happen.

better than many expected , only 1 goal deficit

I don't think people were saying that. Merino wasn't half as good as some people seemed to think, but either way he wanted to leave and the manager had no money to spend.

Well they are working hard and are organised so it's hardly a crisis but there is a dearth of quality in attack. But we already knew that.

Dubravka had a great game. He's been a real find.

Valiant effort (again) but we were on a hiding to nothing there. City could have had a few more if they weren't taking it like a training game and we scored our only real opportunity.

Thought Rondon looked a bit better today, Dubruvka did well and Dummy had Marhez quiet all game pretty much but bar that not many positives you can take from today.

Just pray we don't set up the same way vs Arsenal. Need to get at their back 4 as thats their weak point.

Oh another positive - we aren't West Ham...

Yes, the attack is all Rafa now though isn't it? The issue is that all our wingers are pure ****.

One good thing about today was that we kept Aguero out

we have to start working on the rest of the team though

at this point in time we have played teams 2nd 3rd and 4th in the league managing to restrict them all
to a narrow 2-1 defeat in the 3 cases
no hammering, which I believe will be vital at the end of the season

Really good debate about Newcastle with Jenas, Rio and some Irish fella (Richard Dunne?) on BT Sports there. First time I've actually seen a proper analysis of our situation in the media and voicing the fans' frustrations and concerns without some cock putting some Ashley spin out there.

With each passing year under Ashley's tenure, I have become increasingly desensitized to our relative plight, and have started watching other teams more and more, and yeah, appreciating the better players.

To an extent I was always like that, I remember watching Kewell at Leeds, Henry at Arsenal, Ronaldo at Man Utd and loving their contribution. I was just a bit more reticent to love them playing against my own team. Now though, I expect those performances from the opposition more so than our own players, and yes, I applaud them. I applauded some of Sunderland's goals in the many humpings I went to see. Bet not many Mags will admit to that.

Wish we still had Merino. Was it ever in doubt Diame would go back to his usual self? Also, with 3 at the back, Mbemba would have been perfect. Oh well
