McClaren was brought in to the club with the mantra that he was here to coach and bring along our youngsters. For whatever reason, either he hasn't liked what he's seen or the bad start to the season, that mantra has been thrown out of the window and the club has panicked. We played Birmingham at home on the 28th of April this year and beat them 3-1 with this team ... please log in to view this image Look at the contrast of today's starting line-up.
With the start we had I think it's understandable to change things up. I really don't see the loans we've brought in as panic either. Good business imo.
I think what I was trying to say was that although I wasn't a huge fan, we shouldn't have sacked Holloway. I don't think we would've lost all of our first four games if he was in charge and wouldn't of been in the position to change what the club has been banging on about for the last two seasons. Which was to play our youngsters which in turn would attract other young players to the club instead of say joining Chelsea or Fulham knowing that there was a good chance of getting a game with us. At least it was a plan of sorts, but that appears to be torn up now and the club have gone back to short term fixes and not really knowing where it's heading.
I don't think we have an alternative to short term fixes due to the transfer embargo, which would be the same whoever was in charge. I don't share the romantic view of Ollie though. I don't think he would have moved us forward, although I concede that, if we end up in a relegation battle he'd be ideal.
Not much happening except for many free kicks. However, there was a great headed chance for Leistner that missed the target. Brum are quite physical and seem worried if our front two.
Listened to first half on radio and round up stated we finished stronger. I'll settle for that atm. A draw away is fine and an away win this early would be fantastic. COYRss.
