Morning all. Bright and still dry. A friend from the UK used to work on F1 racing car electronics until he became fed up with spending his life in hotel rooms around the world and moved out here. He set up his own company which over the past ten years has done very well. Now he has sold the company as he has had an offer from Airbus that he couldn't refuse. Toulouse is some distance from where he lives, but travel is a way of life in such a large country. It looks like expansion of the operation here is underway.
So I'm sat in my B&B trying out free WiFi, log in to Facebook to be greeted with "Welcome to Sheffield, look at where the locals are going!" Mmmm but I'm in Sunderland
Shame it's not Sheffield. I stayed there for the Huddersfield match. Well acquainted with the pubs...
I'm doing another walk next Saturday - 50km from Putney to Runnymede whilst some others are doing the 100km.There's a 25km London Bridges walk taking place at the same time. There are over 50000 people taking part in them with pretty much everyone fund raising for over 400 charities. Not a bad effort
Well done Dan, I hope you raise some money for a worthwhile cause. My idea of a walk these days is a gentle stroll for an hour, then a stop for breakfast at a local chateau. A further hour to a farm for coffee, then the final stretch to the village hall for lunch. Maybe 10km all off road, with about 20 of us. You catch up with all the local gossip, and do not have painful feet.
Morning all. Grey, but mild, no rain. .Off to dinner with my eldest granddaughter today who turned 15 yesterday. She.had a dozen school friends round yesterday. I hope my daughter is still in one piece.
Morning all. Temperature dropped overnight to 17°C meaning a dew on the car. I do not have my computer back yet so if anyone would like to do a matchthread it would be appreciated. Think I will go to town and see how it is going.
We're off to see Craig David and Rita Ora in Northants tonight, staying at our daughter's house, they are all mad Spurs supporters so I will need to ease back on the banter or else tomorrow's breakfast could be ultra light!! Have a good w/e all.
I'm with a Spurs idi... supporter in a spanish bar tomorrow. I'm telling him we expect to loose by 3 and we know we've just been lucky so far. I think I'll be able to keep it together until Gray scores in the 10th minute. superhorns tell 'em you're looking forward to seeing their new ground in MK. That should do the trick. Enjoy
I'll end up with cornflakes instead of a full English, I know when to keep quiet!!! Hopefully I can give them some stick after the game.
Morning all from a sunny island. The friend who introduced me to softball had her first child at 1.25 yesterday morning after a 42 hour labour.
Morning all. A lovely blue sky and a comfortable temperature. Trying to sort out my hotels while traveling south for my holiday later this month. We have taken the chance on some using the restaurant menu as a guide, and so far have not been disappointed. The chains of hotels seem to be trying to keep their prices low at the expense of good meals, so we give them a miss these days.
