Fair enough, I'm the first to admit I don't know anything about league one sides so it's all new to me.
You have scored an average of 2.40 goals per game so far. Oxford have let in an average of 2.8. Nothing in that suggests a score of 7, 5 or even 4. Ergo thinking you should knock in a shed load is not based on stats but just a little tiny bit cockiness. Don't you think given the facts on paper like.................I have however predicted in our prediction league a score of 3 - 0 and did that before I posted on here. I call it scientific analysis rather than wumming. But I could be wrong of course I have also predicted us to beat Pompey even though we are bottom again.

Jack Ross has confirmed Glenn Loovens and Adam Matthews are doubts for the visit of Oxford United this weekend.Unbeaten Sunderland host third-bottom Oxford at the Stadium of Light on Saturday (KO 3pm). Aiden McGeady, Duncan Watmore and Jerome Sinclair remain out injured but Charlie Wyke and Tom Flanagan are set to be involved in the matchday squad after returning to training this week at the Academy of Light. Loovens was subbed at half-time in the 2-1 win over AFC Wimbledon last weekend with a tight groin and if he doesn't make it then Alim Ozturk is expected to come into the side. Ross confirmed: "We’ve got a couple coming back, and then some more now are doubts. "Glenn Loovens is still a doubt, Adam Matthews remains doubtful and there’s a couple of other ones. Aiden McGeady and Duncan Watmore obviously remain out and so does Jerome Sinclair. "We’ve had Charlie Wyke and Tom Flanagan back on the pitch with us today, so they’ve only really trained properly with me today but at least they’re back into the fold. "There’s a couple we’ll wait on and see where they’re at tomorrow, but we’ve still got enough within our squad to put together something that should be able to deal with the challenge on Saturday." Dylan McGeouch made his return in the victory over the Dons and Ross was delighted to have him back. He added: "Dylan being back available has been a boost for us. I think the length of time he was out has helped to be able to drip feed him back into the side. "From his history in his career, sometimes he’s been thrown back in quickly and it’s been problematic for him. "I still think he’s getting back to full fitness because he had a period out when he miss a lot of pre-season by the time he came and joined with us. "It’s been a little bit fragmented but he’s trained well again this week and he’s certainly in contention for Saturday because of the contribution he’s made off the bench. "But a bit like Charlie’s situation it’s fantastic to have players of that quality now back in and around the squad."
I said 5-0. I also said Cattermole will get a hat-trick. There's a lot of tongue-in-cheek happening here, mate. As for quality, it seems to me there's a bigger gap from league 1 to the Championship than the Championship to the premier league. The standard is really poor in league 1 from what I've seen so far.
Stop being sensible sensible. Let us big ourselves up and enjoy it. BTW if we balls it up now I'm blaming you.
Well Mr Sensible don't you dare come on here and tell us to reign in our expectations after the last four or five years we've suffered at our wonderful club, especially our past two seasons. Were not used to starting a season like we have this time, 13 points in 5 games is making us all giddy, and why not. I've said on other threads that as long as we don't underestimate Oxford then we should comfortably win this game. There is a bit of undercurrent to this match with our new owners previous history with Oxford which I'm sure they'll put in the extra yards to try and prove a point. Come 3o'clock tomorrow it's up to the players and I'll back ours against theirs every time. So don't try and deflate our bubble of optimism as this hasn't come along too often recently and we look forward to your clubs long journey to the SOL in March. Let's hope you've managed to pull away from the bottom of the league by then.
You only have to look at the teams in this league and you will see a whole list of clubs with a previously sadder story than your's. Ourselves who almost went out of the football league altogether. Coventry, Portsmouth, Accrington who almost disappeared completely, Luton, Wimbledon who were dumped by their owner and had to start again leagues below the FL. The list goes on so it kind of puts your last 2 seasons into perspective. Join the league of basket cases. I'm sure our supporters are looking forward to their journey North and they are used to the miles. We are obligated to start each season at the bottom but by March we are knocking on the door of the play offs at least. It's in the contract. I don't deny you your happy time. Make the most of it when it comes.
Jack Ross has made two changes to his starting XI ahead of today’s game against Oxford United at the Stadium of Light. Both switches are in the Black Cats back line, as Ali Ozturk comes in for Glen Loovens and Bryan Oviedo starts ahead of Reece James. Two goal hero Lee Cattermole keeps his place in the middle as well as fans’ player of the month for August, Lynden Gooch. For the first time this season Charlie Wyke is in the matchday squad, the striker returns from injury to be named on the bench, alongside fellow returnee Tom Flanagan. Sunderland: McLaughlin, Love, Oviedo, Ozturk, Baldwin, Maguire, Cattermole, Gooch, Honeyman (c), Power, Maja. Subs: Ruiter, McGeouch, Wyke, Flanagan, O’Nien, Robson, James.
Ozturk just completed a 6 yard pass inside our 18 yard box, to Oxford. Which led to the free kick, which lead to the goal.
Here we go again. Conceding opening goals seems to be the new normal. Complacency was creeping in too, need to respond now. Catts? Where are you?
