They were wrong, 71-0 is their record defeat, last night was the most points they've had scored against them, the margin of defeat was one point short of the record, not that it makes it any better!

I've heard if they start using their proper name, Gateshead, the crowds will come flooding back.

Being in Majorca this week, then doing the Belgian war graves/Menin Gate with the biking lads three days after we get back it's going to be a week or two before I can offer the rugby section of family my commiserations <laugh>

The care that those graves get and the respect they receive from all ages is a lesson to us. The ceremony at the Menin Gate is profoundly moving.

Congratulations to Warrington though. Their highest ever points.

Bit unfair on FC though. Obviously playing a cup final a few days previously gives you an advantage over a club which has had a couple of week's rest.

    Wolves 0-8 WBA
    Newcastle 1-9 Sunderland
    Cardiff 1-9 Wolves

Obviously all before football was invented.

So, they weren't PL home defeats?

We do share one record with TWS. And 4 others. No away wins. Though TWS achieved that tbe year after the won the League. And that same season was the last time Man Utd lost 2 their 3 opening games. And ended up Champions, which I bet won't happen this season.

Maybe Radders is no longer the Dadders?

Never even knew Hull were playing last night, had to ask some at work about the score (titter),

Never mind eh your football team will do better this weekend...oops! no sorry forgot Jose has lost his mojo, so that's turned to **** too.

Some tit even tred to deflect scorn onto the Wire by saying they turned up five days late. Too many handling errors for Hull last night, it was like watching your other team LFC in the CL final last May!

    It's the way I tell em <laugh>

Been to Ieper 4 or 5 times now and the ceremony gets more crowded every time. Sometimes in the sixties and 70s there were no visitors there at all some nights, just the buglers themselves. Now it's hundreds of people each time, and there are lots of new hotels to cater for the school trips etc

Most of the museums have been upgraded beyond recognition at places like Tyne Cott and Passchendaele, all interactive state-of-the art stuff .

Another great place to go is the cemetery at Mons, where the Germans buried ours with respect and dignity in the same cemetery as their own right at the beginning of the conflict.

Not yet been made tourist-friendly and is off the beaten track, but very noteworthy for what happened there at the beginning and end of WW1.
