Hands up all those that know what happens when you get cocky and carried away.........................everyone knows what should happen in a football game but they also know what often does when it shouldn't.

I don’t think it’s cocky. I think it’s confidence and we’ve every right to be confident.

We’re unbeaten and scoring goals for fun against a side who are the opposite. A lot of their players are used to 3k crowds and not the SoL where there will be 30k.

    Why wouldn’t we be confident?

7 - 0?????? Hmmmm!!! Just a tad cocky maybe? I've no doubt you WILL win by the way but you all know the wheels can easily come off as well.

We shouldn’t have won at Wimbledon, but we did because we never gave up.
There is no room or time for complacency and we need to keep improving and pushing on. If we do that, we’ll win on Saturday. A rest will have done us good and hopefully some fresh faces in the first team squad.

I’d say the “1-0 will do at a push” comment notifies the reader he is taking the piss.

Didn't occur to you it was tongue-in-cheek?

Not really no but then I'd read 2 at 5 - 0 and 2 at 4 - 0 by the time I'd got to that one. But, after consecutive relegations, and yes my club has been there before as well, I do sort of understand the euphoria when things turn around. Perhaps I'm just mistaking complete and utter happiness for a change with over cocky a tad. It's a fine line sometimes.

It might be cockiness if the evidence wasn't plain to see. We look a good team.

If we lose a few games then so be it, it wouldn't exactly be a new experience for us, but everything about the season so far points to us looking like title contenders.

After years of ****e I'm not going to shy away from revelling in a bit of well deserved success for once.

No one's getting too cocky up here mate.

We've had too many crap seasons over the last decade to be so cocky so quickly.

Give us another couple of weeks and get back to us though ;)

    We don’t all think it’ll be 7.

5 or 6 will do me fine :emoticon-0105-wink:

So how are you separating what's 'cocky' from what 'should happen' if they both say the same? When does a prediction and assessment become arrogant and cocky? What's the formula and could you demonstrate it here?

It was clearly tongue in cheek playing of the 7-0 at Roker Park. I propose the word sensible be stricken from your user-name <laugh>:emoticon-0172-mooni

I sort of get that. It must be good being a bigger fish in a smaller pond for a change. I have read a few comments about this being a crap league. In it's defense can I offer that it is a lot more entertaining than the usually predictable premier league with it's small handful of teams that can win anything. At least the club supporters are genuine fans and not jumping on a bandwagon.

Cocky is an expectation that a team will hammer every other team and almost have a right to do so. What should happen is when a team on paper "should" at least win a game. I think..........

I'm certainly enjoying it, if it wasn't for financial concerns I'd be happy for us to stay in league one for a little while, it's good to watch football without all the play acting bullshit that I'm sick to death of seeing from the top leagues.

On the other hand apart from Charlton and us I've seen very little actual football to speak of and that would get boring.

You may yet be a bit surprised as the season goes on and you see more sides play. It's not that bad honest.

But who is who? I mean calling people cocky for saying we'll score heavy but we are scoring heavy, 9 in the last 3 league games, while Oxford have conceded 8 in their last 3 league games. So what you're saying is cocky is what actually what it says on paper. What I'm saying is your parameters are so narrow yet you're indirectly accusing cockyness. Think you're a twisty wum myself.

Don't let real stats get in the way of calling us all cocky though. See my point though? ;)
