It’s only illogical to you Pikey. Opinions are not all based on data but some on gut feeling and preference.

No, not just me, as explained to you before.

Like I’ve said you’re welcome to your opinion on gut feeling and preference, though given your location I don’t see why it’s an issue for you. I’ll side with the facts until those facts change.

It doesn’t matter how many people agree with you, weight of opinion didn’t make Hitler right did it? My location has little to do with it either. I still watch my local team here and only stand as there’s no choice but I’d prefer to sit.

I genuinely don’t know what more you want me to say. I’ve said several times now that you’re very welcome to your illogical, non-fact based view.

It’s not illogical it’s just a different point of view.

It’s totally illogical, given it goes against all logic.

I believe it did. I believe she wanted to social cleanse the working classes ie miners etc, and the roots of football supporters aside from any other sport was her discrimitive way of doing it. Just an opinion <ok>

I don't even know what that means.

If you look back decades, people used to struggle to make ends meet, you never had the prosperity that people had today. A lot of the less well off were union members, such as miners, also probably Labour supporters to. Thatcher i believed had taken it to heart after her run-in with the miners, and sought revenge on the very little luxuries the working man had back in the day. Low incomes meant those luxuries were cheap football, beer and cigs and maybe if you were lucky a holiday in Spain. The first you hit with regulations the booze and ***s you hit with taxation under the banner of health. You then left the game open over the decades to a billionaires playing field and a middle class game, the growth in betting, particularly online betting then attracts interest from Asia and eventually you have corruption due to the huge obscene sums of money involved. Not perfect in my context but best i can explain. Standing was part of that, it was something the working class man enjoyed back in the day. Take that away and make them sit, it controls behaviour and well as a multitude of other yellow jacket rules to make you conform in a particular way. Blame football violence for everything and you have your foundation and passport to control the masses....who as always conform like sheep. It always makes me laugh when i see banners at football about 'community' - The Prem is not interest in community, it is only interested in pound signs, hence leaving a bigger gap between the top flight and lower leagues than ever, including those very communities they claim to support.

Okay. That's a long explanation behind the creation of your opinion. It doesn't mention other elements though such as macro-economic factors, the long lasting economic impact of the second world war, cold war politics, the early creation of the EU and our national view and decision-making subsequent to it, yadda yadda yadda.

All I think you've done is introduce a little paranoia behind the creation of your opinion, based on your left-wing view of the world. Not that there's anything wrong with that. We all sit somewhere on the political spectrum and form our opinions from it. Nowt wrong with that. I'm a little right of centre and a mackem. Almost your classic contradiction!

All I'm saying is there were so many things going on in the 50's, 60's and 70's, nationally and globally, that influenced government policy in the 80's.

Can't change your opinion, wouldn't even try to. Everyone's opinions are so different. It's one of the many things we all have in common! <ok>

Lets leave it there and agree to disagree brb. I bored myself writing all that <laugh>

Tbf I wasn’t arguing, Pikey just can’t accept people have different opinions without throwing in ‘well you can have an opinion but you’re wrong’. I respect his opinion and he needs to respect mine with no reservations. It’s quite easy really.
