Which Knobhead at SCFC allowed the game in the EFL Trophy against Stevenage to be on the same night? This is a good comp for the youngsters, and we cannot have two under 23 games on the same night. We can’t even field a real squad side in mid week!
Walking to the stadium I was fearing a thumping but full credit to the players tonight they put in a shift and played some good football at times, which is a credit to Potter and our coaching staff. Once Palace scored we never really responded as the fitness of a Premier League side eventually told and a few of our players started going down with cramp. All in all an enjoyable evening, but not as nice as when we progressed and went on to win the Cup and gained Europa Cup Football! Attendance - I think it was about 9122
OK, training game over with neither team seemingly that interested in it as both sides lacked intensity to their play, I don't recall a tackle being made all game. Our youngsters fell off the pace and looked tired around 60m mark and Palace took control after that point. That's what happens with boys their age, they don't have the strength or stamina to make it to the end, every MILFS nightmare. Good experience for them though, doubt Potter learned much due to the lack of competative edge but at least the kids to run around and get some fresh air.. Palace deserved winners, they were the more controlled side, 1-0 a fair result.
