Seen a few people saying that the rulings have changed on free transfers now and that anyone signed outside of the window won’t be able to play until Jan once the squad registration opens. Anyone know if that’s true? If so, probably no point in signing a free agent.
I don't think that this is true, purely because I've not seen a 2018/19 list of squads on the official Premier League site. Seems an odd way to judge it, I'll admit, but they've normally been up after the lists are submitted, so why not this year? It might be another weird situation where you can't pay for anyone, but you can still make changes to the list.
I can't help feeling that the DoF's need to tell the media everything that's going on with him at the club that's driving him out. Even stuff like this won't please MP.... https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...mauricio-pochettino-for-show-of-a3922541.html It suggests that KWP is seen as our next choice at left back. I've got to say that, from what I've seen of him in a few cup games last season, left back isn't a strong position for the young lad. I hope that we keep Rose for Christmas and and then look at getting him out and someone else in during the January window. KWP's future and the club's best interests are for him to play right back.
KWP imo should go on loan this season and then come back next season as the first choice back up for RB. One of serge or trips to go.
There's no way Tripps should be going anywhere in my opinion he has improved so much .Aurier had a few mares last season but given time with poch he may come good but overall if one had to go it would be aurier to me
I amnot being rude mate but Trippier is outstanding in the here and now. He defends well, attacks well, works hard, delivers great set pieces and is vital at both ends of the pitch. Selling him would be truely insane imo. Kyle Walker Peters should not be considered as being even near Trippiers level. I get thd worry about Aurier as he continues to be a liability defensively but maybe he will be pushed up to play as a wide midfielder ahead of Trippier. KWP is a very good prospect but selling Trippier will weaken us and strengthen a rival so it is a complete no no from me
I see you rate Trips highly but he’s not all that imo Great crosser of the ball but the rest of his game isn’t that great. 28 next month too so IF he’s the one the club decides to sell for KWP next summer then so be it. Let’s not forget the two starts KWP got last season in the league he got MoM both times.
I get what Hengy says...Trippier is more of a traditional full back than the modern day wing backs we acquire to execute one of our 2 chosen formations. He's a neat defender but lacks serious attacking zip, good technically as he shows with his use of the ball but he's no menace on the wing. Aurier was brought in exactly because he has that menace but lacks the composure to have a starting berth. He has also already assisted one goal.
I hope KWP continues to progress and he's done ok on limited outings to date, but he's a way off being a definite replacement for either Trippier or even Aurier. Tripps may not provide the speed of a Walker, but his defensive nous and excellent distribution more than makes up for that. And his WC performances have taken his confidence and standing to a different level. No way would I consider seeing him move on in the next 2 years! I'm just hoping that Aurier cuts out the brainfarts and knuckles down. He's big pals with Lucas and hopefully they will encourage each other He's surely the more vulnerable one at the moment.
Am I really gonna have to go on another 'Team Tripps' crusade like I did last season? Thought my work was complete but it seems not.
I said it a few weeks ago, Aurier looks so much better suited to playing in a back three as that plays to his strengths while the system can accommodate for his weaknesses - although the fact is that playing Aurier every time we have a back three is so obvious it wouldn't be long before the opponents set up to keep attacking down his flank in the expectation he'll make a mistake or three that they can take advantage of.
We’ll have to mate as his defensive side of the game is pretty bad ( in a back 4 ). I also felt Trippier is perfect RW of the 90’s which is why he works so much better in a wing back formation. Like I originally put though it’s a one off Trippier OR serge to go next summer, I’ll let the club decide though.
Defensively pretty bad? He's probably the best we've had since Corluka from a defensive standpoint. Pocketed Ronaldo, Coutinho and Alexis in certain games last season. Only player that gave him a torrid time was Sane from memory. Very underrated leader too, constantly barking instructions on the pitch, can always hear his manc accent when I'm in the stands. I'm all for KWP getting chances but he's going to need longer than a year to be significantly better than Trippier. Aurier is a different story. Seems a great fella and well liked but he's a liability on the pitch, don't think he's going to adjust to English football and I wouldn't be against the prospect of selling him within the next couple of days to make way for KWP.
Na not having and never will his defensive abilities. Average at best. But like I say it’ll be time next summer one has to leave to let KWP through. He’s the future and you can’t stand in the way of it much longer
