I wouldn't worry, £30k for a Rooney special is nothing to him. Anyway Mrs Lampard might like a slaphead.

No worries for Saturday then, Marshall and the first team will be back. Unfortunately, Derby's first team will also roll up ........so could be 5 nil.

Says it all. What a depressing evening. The highlight was the barriers being up in HRI car park, so didn’t have to pay the usual five quid. Take your wins where you can.

I don’t know why Adkins is sticking around. They’re clearly not trying to sign his targets. They’re just targeting whoever is cheap.

It's very sad to lose that way at home. What to tell. It's frightening about the future!

Regardless of whether you liked him or not (I liked him) Steve Bruce knew what we were in for as soon as Ehab took over the reins.

No manager in their right mind leaves a team about to play in the premier league yet Brucey did. That was the massive exclamation mark that we were well and truly ****ed

Well, I feared a drubbing and that's what we got. Their 2nd team light years better than our 2nd eleven, as will Saturdays figure prove to be their 1st eleven so much better than ours. The way things are going we will be way adrift of survival by Xmas. 7 weeks since we sighted Long and no one through the door since then, really does beggar belief. The only pluses are that I no longer put money into these peoples pockets, and don't have to endure watching a side that has fallen so far in a short space of time.

ASSISTANT HEAD COACH ANDY CROSBY ADMITTED THAT TUESDAY NIGHT’S CARABAO CUP DEFEAT AGAINST DERBY COUNTY PROVIDED A REAL LEARNING CURVE FOR SOME OF HULL CITY’S YOUNGER PLAYERS.
Derby ran out 4-0 winners at the KCOM Stadium with two goals in each half, and the Tigers were never really at the races on a long, tough evening.

“It was a tough night,” said Crosby.

“We’ve used this competition to give some of our younger players minutes and some of the players who haven’t been playing in the league minutes. We performed fantastically well in the previous round to beat an experienced Sheffield United side, but maybe on this occasion we looked at the names on the back of the Derby shirts and perhaps gave them too much respect. Sometimes that is human nature.

“We gave Derby too much space to play. We weren’t on the front foot. We weren’t aggressive in our closing down and we weren’t aggressive with our passing when we got the ball back. That’s not taking anything away from Derby, they were by far and away the better side.

“It was a long night for us but a real learning experience for some of the younger players who were playing at the KCOM for the first time in the first team.

“We have to move on from this quickly. We play against the same team again on Saturday and we will have to be a hell of a lot better than we were tonight.”

Is there any wonder Nigel didn’t do the post match interview. I heard a rumour he was last seen on the M6 analysing the game on the City coach. Might be back next week to iron out the problems!

Giving players minutes is a new buzz phrase. Warnock found one of the positives after their home defeat was that they had given some players minutes.

Always some moments of light relief. Leeds losing at home to 10 men was one.

Another was Diop being asked after the game by the commentator to talk us through his goal for West Ham.
"I receive the ball and I shoot".

Crosby says our younger players might have been intimidated by the names on the back of their shirts? God help them if they ever have to play against somebodies first team then .
