Pretty much my take ... Lukaku is not clinical enough when the pressure is really on .... he's great when he's playing in a team that is on top and bossing it against lesser lights ... but he consistently comes up short when it's a tight game against real rivals ... Sanchez would likely have put both his key chances away ... and you have a completely different contest ... Excellent performance from the Spuds and a tremendous result ... but I do think the level of hysteria from certain areas of the press and the more entitled United fans is completely over the top ...
I remember us losing at home to Liverpool, then getting battered 3-0 by Arsenal on our third and fourth games of the season back in 2016-17. Everyone wrote us off after those back to back defeats, and then we went on like a 19 game streak without losing and romped the title. Not saying United will do the same, but I wouldn't write them off just yet
Matthew won't remember how the game at Wembley finished last season, he turned the telly off after 10 seconds
very true, but this is Joses 3rd season in charge we're talking about here Bod. It's never ended well for anyone (of recent times)
Question though, who could United appoint if they axed Jose mid season? Who better, could come in, halfway through a season?
Zidane? Tap up Rafa? Bring in Conte? Would laugh if they appointed Wenger Go really daring and bring in the duel appointments of Big Sam and Pardiola?
I think they should go for the Wolves manager. He plays good football, something the United fans crave, he is more realistic than United dreaming about Poch.
I doubt Zidane would do any better, having had no PL experience. I suppose he would carry respect with his name, but there is a reason no top clubs have come in for him. Conte? hehe that would be ****ed up, they surely cannot keep hoovering up our sacked managers. Wenger would be hilarious, infact that is what I am hoping for, I would give a kidney to see that happen.......
think you underrate zidane. We haven't seen him rebuild a side but you dont win 3 Cls and 1 la liga in 2 and a half seasons if you are a **** manager. No manager in the history of the game has done that
With Real Madrid you do. Give me a team with Modric, Ronaldo, Ramos and Isco and I could probably give the CL a good shot. I dont think Zidane is a **** manager, just to clarify, just that he would be a risk , mid season. Especially if he doesn't have a transfer window in which to spend £250m to work with.
You mean when Jose, Rafa and Carlo had stabs with Real Madrid (tbf ancelotti won 1 CL). All of them only won 1 trophy max. Likewise, Zidane didn't really spend much money at Real so he can do it with existing players.
He didnt need to spend much money at Real because he had awesome players to begin with. If he wants the same level of success at United he will need to spend money. You aint gonna win 1 CL, let alone 3, with United's backline.
My point was, these awesome players didn't do it for 3 other world class managers, especially to the level zidane did. His only real failure was not winning the league last season. Of course he's going to have to spend, every manager does when they take over a team with weaknesses. Just think you're doing a disservice to him regarding him having no premier league experience and not doing a better job. Sarri is doing fine with no experience, likewise Jose when he first turned up. If mourinho does his 3rd season like he did with ours then anyone would be an improvement frankly let alone a 3 time CL winner
Sarri was given a pre-season and a transfer window though. I am talking about whether Zidane could do a better job than Mourinho, with the existing United squad, halfway through a season. I just dont see it. Would be a risky move for United
