During Newcastle v Chelsea, Giroud ( Chelsea ), is 'floored' by a hefty elbow in his face by Newcastle's Yedlin. At this point the referee gets it wrong - twice! Firstly he doesn't see it as a foul !! Secondly, the referee didn't stop the play - for what was - quite clearly - a head injury (( as directed by the Football Association )) - The Chelsea players 'stopped' - allowing the Newcastle player to score their equaliser! ............. Perhaps the referee is only supposed to stop the play if a Coventry City player collapses when his leg 'stiffens up.'......................................... what a load of cra*p. ( sorry about that - the letter M on my keypad 'stiffened up' ) edit - can I suggest that Tom Eaves wears multiple layers of shirts - that way he can give one to the opposition defenders every time they try to pull it off.
....... I suppose Yedlin ( and Newcastle ) got punished for the foul on Giroud - because the Newcastle fans hadn't stopped celebrating their 'ill-gotten' equaliser, when Yedlin scored an own goal to give Chelsea the victory------ maybe if the referee had sent off Yedlin for his foul, he wouldn't have been in a position to score the own goal. nb -- I really don't give a (bleep) about either of those teams - you know me - I love to help the referee when he gets it so bloody wrong
Not to mention the 'penalty' that Chelski were awarded when Alonso fell over Schar's leg after Schar made an excellent and fair tackle. The debate about VAR goes on, but in that game alone there were those two obvious and goal defining refereeing errors. And I know there are other threads about VAR and the money game that is the Premiership, but like it or not it is what it is, and if such huge sums of money are at stake the PL has an ever increasing responsibility to ensure that its members (i.e. the competing teams) are treated equally fairly. If they don't, I wonder how long it might be before a team (possibly a relegated team) takes legal action against the PL for not ensuring that all reasonable and available technology and supervision was used in order to ensure that 'correct' outcome of a game. Yes, it goes completely against the spirit of football as we were brought up to understand it, but this isn't football as we were brought up to understand it, it's global business run by hard headed businessmen and owners.
I must apologise for my ignorance here, what are all these strange teams and players you're talking about? I'm reasonably well up on a lot of the European leagues, but can't place any of the ones mentioned above.
