Strikers

No one knows. Still, 8 goals in 10 starts is phenomenal, that's a better ratio than Sturridge at Bolton who is now worth what, 20 million?

 

Best is one of those players many take a dislike to and nothing will change that. This club has many fans only too willing to totally write off a player totally forgetting that in the next breath they will be singing what loyal supporters they are. As many mediocre teams have shown in the past games can be won if mediocre players are encouraged and supported to help them achieve their best or even overachieve. I think all of our players should be given full support, encouragement and cheering to push them on and if you cant say anything positive say nothing. Getting on the backs of your own players is not good support and is totally counterproductive.
We all want big stars all over the place but being realistic it aint going to happen at least not for the forseeable future so why not get behind ALL of the lads and see where we can get.
As for strikers i think Best has shown decent potential and scored goals so deserves a chance and may turn out to be a star. He hasnt just scored against the poor teams btw, last season v Arsenal he scored one, had one wrongly disallowed and won a pen. Also the quality of the goals or fact that some have come in twos and threes is irrelevant. Not all goals scored by any striker are great or spectacular and all top strikers get many goals in twos and threes often against poor opposition.
Ba's past record is good and he just needs time to settle and showed some signs of that v Fulham.
Samiobi looks a great prospect both scoring and making goals and needs some first team action now for experience and to take advantage of his soaring confidence at the moment.
For me Lover gets played too often as a sub or pushed out onto the wing and given more chances as a striker alongside a decent partner would do ok although i agree his all round play isnt great.
Shola is Shola, very frustrating all too often but as an emergency option will always get some goals especially against lesser opposition.
Overall i think a top striker is needed but we arnt as badly off as some are trying to say. Agree too much expectation being put onto Ben Arfa tho. The lad is going to need time but hopefully can be great. Obertan can also be used up front and will do better when he has more games here under his belt.

 

Best was good at Coventry - he was ****e for us but maybe, like Dzeko, he comes good whenst he has had a good pre-season

 

Dont forget Sammy - said on his twitter the other day he's already scored 8 goals this season incl. pre season.

 

Yeah, but other than Carroll the last player that has been properly brought through from the academy was Taylor. We need to start trusting youngsters more, but I can't see it happening.

 

When we was he ****e for us? Who keeps coming up with this? Poor start in the Championship finding his feet at a new club but his Premiership record is quality. Give him a chance!

Take away his 2 goals against Fulham an we would have lost! give the guy credit where he deserves it!
besides why take into account his Championship appearence most of which was when he was a youngster player for a team that isnt exactly that prolific or great?
his form for us has been good and he has impressed when he started just give the lad a chance!
