An all round team performance. Seems as if they are playing to a plan which has come about from the coach. Troy reckons that Watford were poor, but they can still win.
More from Troy Deeney: "The desire and energy levels were there right until the end and we're not the finished article but if we play bad and win games, I'm more than happy with that. "We've got a lot to work on closing games out. We'll keep on taking the points but we are not going to be naive. We have a lot of work to do and and the hard work starts tomorrow. "We are far from the finished article."
I agree it was scrappy and they had chances, but so did we. I would’ve felt short-changed by a loss. Agree there was lots to work on, but we managed to make them look worse than they are. Same with Brighton and Burnley, neither of them are as bad as we made them look. Spurs will need to put some effort in. I hope we don’t play their reputation.
A strange atmosphere today. Didn’t really get going (Palace included in the 2nd half). Lunchtime, rain and stupidly cold for August all to blame.
Finally got the better of Palace . Great saves by Foster 1st half and we came good in the 2nd. Surprised there wasn't a red card!
I tho I thought there was 3 mins for goals and subs and a minute for Foster. 5 too much though and he played 6.30 with Deeney’s sub too.
The empty seats were mainly down near the front, people were sheltering in the concourse out of the driving rain. Many were thoroughly soaked.
An astute summary. We won beautifully ugly whilst not playing well. The hallmark of many a successful side.
So far I put our improved form down to closing down opponents better, Deeney's leaner body and of course, the sublime silky skills of a fit Pereyra. I think we can finally give Spurs a decent game.
There was nowhere to go in those days except home. Now they can watch the game on TV in the spacious concourse whilst having a hot drink to wait for the worst to pass over. I would do the same if I sat near the front.
Ah, a typical August Bank holiday weekend. I bet you wished you lived here where cold rosé and ice cream is still in season!
