Twitter seems to be on a crusade against clackers and Sammy the Saint beating a drum, is there some sort of snobbery that the Northam is the only section allowed to make any noise? If so it's about they did so, they were out shouted yesterday, most of the time in the second half after the equaliser there was nothing coming from that end to get our players up and motivated.
What records? Hughes winning nothing in his management career I believe and finishing mid table with mid table teams and doing nothing with City when they first got all the money? McClaren getting a Boro team to a European final, winning the Dutch league with a complete underdog, winning the League Cup and doing similar things to Hughes at Stoke/Blackburn with Boro in terms of league as well? Neither are good but McClaren's record is at least on par with Hughes if not better, well if you care about actually winning things and making finals rather than just mid table nothingness
Tbf McClaren has won more silverware in England than all the Managers in the PL except Pep, Maureen, Rafa and Pellegrini...
Was McClaren in charge when they won the league cup? Forgot about that actually City and QPR are the only places he's failed so far of which both were difficult for different reasons. Do you consider Puel better than Poch then?
McClaren hasn't done anything in the game for ages though, Sparky got 3 top ten PL finishes in the last 5 years.
They aren't really comparable where I would say that some of the clubs Hughes has managed are comparable to Boro when McClaren was there. Poch is a good manager but is definitely over rated as I can't see how you can put someone up there as one of the best around if they haven't won anything.
Agree with the second paragraph, probably 3rd or 4th best manager in the league. McClaren has had one successful job in this country. In the same (or similar) time frame Hughes has had 3/4.
And pretty much got one relegated as well. He was the right appointment at the time as we had very limited options but we didn't really improve under him last season all that much, it was more Swansea being utter **** that kept us up. Should've thanked him for his services, given him whatever that bonus we agreed with him was and parted ways. I don't understand why so many people were so quick to throw away our way of recruiting managers after 1 bad appointment. Well I do, football fans.
. We'd never know but I'm willing to bet he would have kept them up in the end... He probably should have left last Summer though.
Forget last season, he should be given a chance, but if the signs are that we have not improved in performance and results since last season by xmas then obviously his position needs to be reviewed ( I personally think that we are better but just not getting the results yet).
It doesn't matter who you think is the best manager......Hughes is all we have got. We haven't got a choice in the matter anyway.
But that is precisely why this is a bad call and yellows for diving are stupid. if Hojbjerg dives right away he gets the call and no one is calling him a dirty cheater. If Hojbjerg dives .333 of a second later, he gets a second yellow and he’s a terrible person. Why? In either situation, the defender sticks out a foot, and Hojbjerg dives. If the foot was stuck out improperly, that’s a foul. If not, then it’s a dive. Nothing else should matter. But instead you are effectively rewarding or punishing Hojbjerg based on how good his acting skills are. If he’s a bad actor, you can trip him AND get him sent off. If he’s a good actor, you can do nothing wrong at all but he gets you sent off.
