Sturridge knows how to see out a 1-0. He can win a foul and keep possession all day. Knows when to just run into a corner too.
probably wrong in saying this lol, but i think i remember when we first brought robertson he didn't get much game time to start with. is it a fitness issue or klopp just wants to get them going when given opportunity?
Robertson when we signed him was pretty much unknown to Klopp but Klopp knows all about Shaq . Just thought considering how we were misfiring up front it was worth giving him a run out but does seem like he is 5th choice atm. Might just be ensuring he understands the press completely .
Last year we beat them 4-0 at home and 5-1 away. Yesterday had little to do with their game plan and was down to us not firing on all cylinders yet.
I don't mind him taking risks but he needs to avoid being predictable. He's going to get caught out doing it every time
Forward players take risks - they have to in order to fool the opposition and create chances. Those who bemoan our poor defence yet applaud defenders for taking risks don't appear to see the contradiction there. Defenders need to be solid first and creative second.
No issue with any player taking risks. They just need to mix it up to avoid becoming predictable. Salah seems to have this issue at the moment too.
Yep, Salah is best out wide using his pace and space. Like his goal cutting in from a pass. Then as the game progressed he began going more central again and just receives a pass to feet and lays it off, thats not his game. Yes he has scored a crap load of goals, but by staying out wide and running into space or getting tap ins at the back post. End of last season and again this season he moves more and more central in games and it is not working
Coming toward the end of the game when firmino pulled out to the byline, it pulled their rightback across leaving space for Robertson to run into. At the moment firmino and Salah are almost playing on top of each other, with mane joining them. It's easy to defend against, just keep the middle compact and restrict space.
You know full well that I'm talking about defenders taking unnecessary risks - it has **** all to do with the crap Mourinho serves up.
Not taking risks isn't the same thing as a negative attitude. Virgil rarely takes risks, that's why he's so solid compared with, say, Stones. The latter is a good ball player but gets caught out too often over-elaborating.
That's exactly how it looked to me. There was no need to do anything stupid and BHA didn't exactly throw themselves at Allison so there wasn't a lot of room to counter. Slow paced game because BHA worked to make the pitch seem small... But we can have turned up the heat if we needed to.
