It seems by various vids ive seen (that i cannot share on here), that the craic' and banter within our squad this season is top notch. Max Power shares various vids on facebook etc and some of them are funny. Hes got abit of a thing going with Donald Love where he's pretending hes stalking him and his latest vid is of him videoing him in the passenger seat tonight with Catts driving calling him the goal machine with Catts pishing himself laughing. Power seems to have made a massive impact on and off the pitch and we're so lucky to have a lad like him in our squad. Rewind 12 months ago and how many miserable kunts did we have? Gibson, Williams, Kone, Grabban etc etc. All miserable looking feckers. We have so much to thank Ross for. We are now a proper team thats becoming close to matching the quality of us fans.
And then we have our new owners.. I cant remember the last time i loved my club so much. We must be the first team in history thats actually ended up better off after back to back relegations.
It's almost unbelievable how well things have turned out for us, we haven't half landed on our feet. I'm not saying that we're destined to get promoted to the prem and win the treble now but we've got what we wanted and needed in some cases. The state of the club under Short over the last few years wasn't having a good effect on me mentally, football isn't everything but it is certainly something. Now my wife knows that whatever the result is on a Saturday she doesn't have to deal with a miserable bugger until halfway through Sunday. I like to think it's good karma to balance out all the bad we had to put up with.
Nacho, I've been doing the grumpy loser for nearly sixty years and I'm getting no better. The last few seasons have been a nightmare in our house and the wife was getting fed up of it all. This season has been very pleasant so far and long may it continue, I'll happily stay in this league for the next ten years if I get the feel good factor after each game
It's funny you say that . I work in Southampton and " Follow " Southampton , not the Fan I used to be . When it looked like we were getting relegated last year , lots of people at work were chatting . Although they didn't want to get relegated , many said ( And I agree ) there was more fun in the other Leagues , their only concern was any financial concerns that would occur( as you probably know we have had administration once already ) , but they would have welcomed the friendlier atmosphere's , better banter etc in a flash .
I nearly got my head tore off for saying that Cumbrian from just about every body on here funny how they are all singing a different tune now
I grew up not far from Leicester, and a lot of my friends follow them through thick and thin, and honestly, they all said similar stuff, even after winning the prem, a couple still felt closer to the club when they were in league one, they loved that season.
The Premiership is one of the reasons my love for football has dwindled over the last few years. Its all money, money, money and full of mercenary players and agents with only money on their mind. Being back in the lower leagues has made me remember what true passion is all about.
It’s real passion mate from players who want to improve not them money grabbing ****ers in the premier I believe if we go up with players who really want to do well in the premier great but if they just want the dosh they can f uck off as well
I belong to a big family I had five brothers, my dad was a Sunderland fan and although we lived nearer Syd James park we all went to Roker. My mum never worked, well she wouldn't would she looking after 7 males, I'm the shortest and I'm 6'. Anyway each home game ( this is the early sixties) we would all catch the train to the Whitburn and walk to the ground and leave mum to sort out tea for our return around 6 o'clock. she would tune into Sports Report at 5 to get the result and if we won the spread she set out would sink a battleship but if we lost she made a couple of sandwiches each as we couldn't eat any more than that. what I'm trying to say is that our family were deeply affected by Sunderland's result and defeats used to ruin the weekend and I suppose it still does for me although to a slightly lesser degree. I've never understood blokes who don't follow football it just doesn't seem normal to me. Being a fan of YOUR club gets into your blood and no matter how ****e things are from time to time real fans never loose that passion.
You do like to bang on about that, Rooch. It's totally irrelevant to what you were saying back then. You never mentioned league 1. You simply said you'd rather be in the Championship than the Premiership. I still find that a strange thing to say. Saying the lower leagues is more passionate is absolute bollocks. What makes us more passionate is when we are winning. Are we more passionate now than when we were flying in the Premier league under Peter Reid? Absolutely not. I think people are getting confused here. Anybody who would rather we be successful in leagues lower than the Premiership, rather than the Premiership itself, needs their heads examined. If we are not good enough for the premier league and struggling in it all the time, that's a completely different argument altogether.
Your memory might be better than mine but I remember people would rather be in the premiership when we were ****e rather than enjoying football in a lower division so I take it you were one of them mate so crack on and twist it how you like I couldn’t give a **** mate.
Sounds like you don't I've not twisted anything, all I've done is put a different perspective on it. Charlton have had their attendances drop from 18k to 6k over a couple of seasons in league one. What's more passionate about that? Do you think we are more passionate now than our best days under Peter Reid in the Premiership?
This post rings a bell, and sums up footballs problems. Its out of touch with its grass roots and reality.
No and if you can find where I’ve said that I will bow to you mate what I said is I would rather support the lads in non league football than watch that ****e in the premier if it sounded different my fault mate
I don't think you've said that, Rooch. The reason I'm asking is because you said that football is more passionate in the lower leagues and that's what I disagree with. My thoughts are regardless of what league you're in, if you're successful the passion will be there, if we have times like the last 5 years then the passion drains out of the club. Football fans really are fickle. I'm off to watch the match now, hopefully Chelsea can run riot
Its not about being in the premiership for the sake of it, its about being competitive in the premiership. Its about 10 years, and 10 years before that that we were last competitive in the PL. But the PL is the place to be. The only place to be. Anything else is second best. I don't like second best.
