Swansea vs C Palace Competition- Carabao Cup 2nd Rnd Date - Tuesday 28th August Kick Off - 7:30pm Venue - The Liberty Stadium Following Saturday’s disappointing performance and result against Bristol City, when the Swans surrendered their unbeaten record in The Championship, next up for Potter’s men is the visit of PL, Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup. Tuesday will be a chance for Potter to experiment... Palace’s last game was a 2-1 reverse at Watford - goals from Roberto Pereyra and José Holebas giving Watford their third straight win, and taking them to second in the table, behind Liverpool on goal difference. Palace, who missed several decent chances, are 11th. Tuesday’s fixture will be the 30th meeting between Swansea and Crystal Palace, with Swansea having won 13, Palace 5 and 11 draws. Arguably, the most memorable fixture between the teams took place at the Liberty on 26 November 2016 when the Swans ran out 5-4 winners in a pulsating fixture that ebbed to and fro: Turning to Tuesday night, it is likely that both teams will be much changed from the selections made by Potter and Hodgson over the weekend. Palace will be favourites to record only their 6th victory in matches between the teams.
Palace reserves will beat our u21's 3-1, in what will be a completely pointless game in front of one of the lowest crowds ever at the Liberty, if you don't take the Ospreys in to account
This is a competition that gets sacrificed at the best of times. God knows what team will be put out in the current situation.
I would say 100% unlikely due to pending loans. I'll eat Mike van der Horns captains armband if proved incorrect
I most likely wouldn’t get there either - but if I did, I’d be on and off the pitch going for a slash.....
People used to get on de Guzmans back a lot - but he's far superior to anything we have these days. Be careful what you wish for.
Amazing to think a local nobody business man (Huw), once managed the coup of landing one of the greatest all-time footballers to come & manage our medium sized club. Whilst now he’s merely a puppet for another set of business men (slightly larger scale) who probably would not have had a clue who Michael Laudrup was & we’re a shadow of that same club. How far we’ve fallen!! To the next level...
Anyone remember the FA Cup 2nd replay at, neutral, Ninian Park ? Back in 1979, I seem to remember. It finished Swans' 2 Palace 1. Terry Venables was their Manager, and they were hailed as " The team of the Eighties ". Terrific game, end to end, big crowd, many from Cardiff. Robbie and David Giles for Swans', Ian Walsh for Palace. Sadly, no u tube highlights available.
It was 1980 and yes but for the wrong reasons , held at a "neutral " ground and one Swansea supporter stabbed to death and latterly the guy who stabbed him committed suicide .
