Yeah I was baffled by that, can only assume he wasn't fully fit and think AB said similar. I hope so anyway...

I'm still unsure how the winner went in too.

Had the Maguire shot not gone in, most of the posts on this thread would have been more pragmatic. It was an even game that was enjoyable to watch despite the lack of clear chances for both teams. Saints played some brilliant football in the first half but seemed to run out f ideas in the second. I can understand why Long deservedly got a lot of praise yesterday but I thought that Redmond was our best player. He was exciting and creative. Elyounoussi looked good and sprayed some good passes around but I still think we miss Tadic. Lemina and PEH also played well until the latter foolishly dived and got sent off.

If there is a downside, I think it is Hoedt who I don't think is good enough for this league.

While I agree I'm not the biggest fan of Sparky........The call for his head on Saints web and else where, at this stage of the season is totally ludicrous!!
To be honest that is the biggest problem we have had. We have had so many managers with different ideas over the last few seasons it is no wonder the players are not at their best. Add to that the inadequacies of the board itself and you have the recipe for disaster. Somehow we have to steady the ship but bringing in a new manager would achieve very little at this stage.
Saints didn't play that badly yesterday although we cannot keep saying that when we have loss on loss. Again to be fair neither home game in my opinion has Saints had the rub of the green. You could argue that while playing Everton too.
Our mid field and defence were outstanding in the first half I cant recall Mac having a save to make. Although I still thought we were a bit vulnerable down our right flank. If you attended any of the pre season games at ST M that was one thing that stood out. Worst was while Target played their but got only a little better when Cedric came back in. What happened yesterday will have a profound effect on the players moral. This is where Sparky will really have to earn his corn!!!

I agree about Wes. He needs some help from the coaches I feel.

This and could do with being taken out of the spotlight for a while. Play Maya alongside Vestergaard for a while.

Maybe he has got a knock fats, as he is not even making the bench, and he didn't even get into the back 3. Agree that should be a good combo.

I have just seen the highlights again and for the life of me cannot understand why or how Mac let that second goal in. I couldn't see any obstruction in front of him for him not to see the ball.......I'm a bit puzzled.

Yep, whoever has been working with Redmond, get them on Wes.

Have only see 30mins of highlights of yesterdays game but so far this season Redmond looks a far better player than last.

I’m dreading watching. The embarrassment of 2x daft goals, a “dive” (?) & then the negative analysis. Did I miss anything?

I think you could argue about the sending off. Although granted it didn't look like a trip to me. I wonder though if he had a case for a penalty leading up to that point althoughI doubt it. I think had it been a better referee he would have just spoken to him perhaps. As I said earlier though this Ref seemed to blow more for what he thought he saw than what he actually saw. The analysis should not be all bad. Saints outplayed Leicester for long periods but seemed to get complacent in the second half and payed the ultimate penalty.

After a loss (ie every week nearly :) ) I wait until the next day to post.

I cannot see how we lost to be fair. I am struggling to think of a player that had a bad game, the only player that was below par (note not bad, but not up to their standards) was Ings IMO. Redmond was excellent as was Long, Lemina turned up and him and Pierre were excellent together. Mo had a good debut, Bertrand was excellent, Cedric looked threatening and the two in the middle were ok - Jan outstanding I think.

But we lost. Like others that were there I still cannot see how their winner went in. After going ahead, we did shoot ourselves int the foot by conceding and Pierre did dive according to my sober eyes next to me @The Liebherr Legacy :)

Keep playing like this and we will win more than we lose.

Win more than we lose? Dreamland!

I have been very positive about yesterday as I mostly enjoyed the way we played. However, there is one big question mark for me. Can we play against teams who attack us? For 60 minutes we played. Defensive Puel side and we looked strong. Then we scored and started playing an attacking Leicester team. Uhoh. We couldn't handle it. The same has been true in every game. We struggle when the other team plays with any urgency...

Fair summary that though I thought Cedric wasn't great going forward and Pierre got a black mark for the dive... Told you it was btw ;)

Win more than we lose I'm not sure about mind!

This could be a long season for me without alcohol <yikes>

So PEHs red card I presume it’s for 1 match, would Tuesdays game count or does it have to be a league game?

I thought the dive was just naive. He had been bumped about a bit as he entered the box which made him unsteady but he kept going, only falling down when he realised he wasn't going to catch up with the ball. If he had gone over on first contact, he would have forced the referee to make a decision (probably no foul, shoulder-to-shoulder, but he might have been given it). As it was, the decision was easy: player goes down without contact in the box and appeals for a foul: simulation.

It was undoubtedly the correct decision, mental (biased) to suggest otherwise.
