I have seen this. Carragher talks an incredible amount of ****. I can't stand the guy. Neville is right - because it's Emery, a top manager - but Neville himself (and indeed Hurst) are not top managers and so they could be trying a philosophy and a playing style that is not going to work at all. Hurst also doesn't have the power and resources of Emery so he needs to get the best out of the players he has so in a sense, he can't call their bluff in the same way. Right now, I think the way the players interact with each other and play is more important than the results or system. But I think Hurst is missing a trick and could make his life easier by playing a simpler system, then getting the playing style right, then moving toward the system he wants to play. Other people would say that would get the players into bad habits. So there is no right or wrong answer. What we do have to accept with Hurst is that he has no experience of top level football as a player or manager so he is going to have to make mistakes and learn on the job.
What's it feel like to have your head up your arse jonny? I'm the same apparently but now we are rock bottom of the table ( disgraceful ) it could possibly be we have a point after all, we just say it as we see it with no BS.
Not really, even if it doesn't work out for Paul Hurst you guys don't have a point giving up on the team and the manager after a few games. With fans like these who needs an opposition to try to beat every week?
Unfortunately, the fans are part of the problem. FFS, we are 5 games into the season not 15. Get behind the team or go and support Man City / Liverpool / Barcelona etc. I don’t like doing it but just been over to twtd and I think the Samaritans might be getting some calls tonight. Yes, we are bottom but I don’t think we are playing that badly, it will take time for 1) PH to get his ideas across & 2) new players to gel. Keep the faith
There have been far too many players brought in who don't have the quality needed at this level and unfortunately it has shown with the results so far! Time will tell but I will hate to say I told them so at Christmas when we are 8 or 9 points adrift!
And all this garbage about gelling! This isn't a bloody hair commercial! This gel business wouldn't have been such an issue if he hadn't have brought in so many players in the first place! We needed 3 or 4 quality additions not 8 or 9 crap ones!!
I've not given up on the manager but there's no point in adopting a head in the sand attitude when its blatantly obvious to a fool that the results are bloody awful, and when you say " who needs fans like these " I would just point out that I've lost count of the times I've watched Town play, the dozens of away matches I've been to, and the different countries I've travelled to following ITFC. When I have a valid point to make I will give it regardless of whether you approve or not but I won't insult you even if I think you're wrong.
So who would you like to see brought in this week. Please don’t list hundreds of names, just 1 cb and 1 cf that are realistic targets
There are not 8 or 9 crap ones by any stretch of the imagination. Harrison was disappointing in forward areas today, but I wouldn't fault any other individual performance today.
So I’m guessing you were 1 of the fans calling for bobby robson’s head back in the day. I have also supported Ipswich for many years and been the length & breadth of the country supporting them. The last 2 years under MM, I couldn’t bring myself to go to a single game due to the brand of football being played
What you're doing fieldmarshall, is taking years of frustration and underperforming out on the new man. Making a point is one thing, but blanket passive aggressive comments, how is that going to help? "What's it feel like to have your head up your arse jonny? I'm the same apparently but now we are rock bottom of the table ( disgraceful ) it could possibly be we have a point after all, we just say it as we see it with no BS." Very constructive point.
You're having a bloody laugh if your trying to compare this current clown with the legend! He didn't come in and make wholesale changes overnight and the majority of the fans understood what he was trying to do and supported him through it. Unfortunately Hurst just looked like a frozen rabbit caught in the head Lights! His press conferences are as dull as ditch water and in no way inspiring. He is just the cheap option.
It’s only a few games in so perspective is needed. Worse thing is I can see Mick sitting back with a wry I told you so smile on his face. For the record I’m pleased Mick’s gone but maybe he did do a good job here with his resources albeit painful to watch. Let’s hope we can get our season going next Sunday.
The point is not whether McCarthy was good at grinding out results. We all know he was. The point is treading water is not a job I want anyone to do. I want a passionate manager who wants to do great things. I care whether Town win or lose now, that's a massive leap forward.
MAYBE? did a bloody brilliant job given funds and situation. Lets hope things can start to click for Hurst.
I can see what Paul is trying to do with the team but it will take a bit longer to get it right. I'm not too worried about it yet. This season is all about getting this team and manager used to Championship football, I just hope we stay up in order to reap the benefits next year
I don't think he will be around if we find ourselves in the dropzone in a few months - and if he gets the momentum to drive us up the table I can't see us dropping back into it.
