Well we looked jaded there today and out of scoring ideas, fair play to Bristol they played the better game today, well deserved away win for them. Our midfield is a problem, teams coming through far too easy, think we are going to get overrun there a fair bit this season.........
And 7 from the first 9, Stereo Calm down; we may not be promotion candidates but we're hardly relegation candidates. But, other than a good 10 minutes midway through the second half we looked very lifeless today. Ah well, next week.
As per my post earlier when I saw the team selection. The Championship has bit already. Our wafer thin squad is already exposed with only under 10% of the season gone. Potters selection and order of subs today was really questionable. I also question his strength in character. You compare him continually currying favour and insisting its about the players he has and those that want to be here, and compare that to Pulis continually insisting the Boro squad is light (lol) and demanding back up from his board....and getting it. At this rate, we may remain the same selling/development club we were in the Prem as you have to challenge to keep the prospects.
My detailed match analysis today is that Bristol had our pants off in the first minute and humped us for the next 89+5. The only surprise was that they didn't score a second or third to put us out of our misery. Bristol looked well drilled and organised. They had a game plan. They won't get an easier three points all season The extent of the injury to Fer is clear. In normal circumstances he wouldn't be playing so the Club is risking injuring him further if he is kept being forced into action. While Potter has to think long term, Narsingh, Dyer and Routledge continue to be paid by the Club but ignored. . Next Game: Crystal Palace at home in the Caraboa Cup. Our reserves will no doubt be playing in that game. Hang on, our reserves played this afternoon...………….
We have to be realistic. Our squad is one of the weakest in the championship and certainly one of the smallest. Potter did superb to get those early 7 points but our weaknesses are starting to show up. With this squad we would struggle to play once a week yet alone twice. If we stay up which I think we will just about it will be because of Potter and despite our owners. Still all very worrying.
For once, we need the International break. Unbelievable that a club moving down from the Prem millions should even contemplate feeling that way.
Just back in - had to go for a couple of jars first! Without 2 or 3 decent loan players, I fear that over the course of the season, the team will be towards the bottom of the table in a dogfight. Our midfield is just not good enough at Championship level - the skill set is different from the PL in some respects. Carroll is too lightweight. Celina flatters to deceive. Fulton is a back up midfielder- not a starter. Asoro is a work in progress. McKay played well in Sheffield, but has not reached the same heights since. Grimes is not Championship quality. Monty and Fer are better than Championship level and made a difference when they were on. It was disappointing and puzzling that our best crosses came in after McBurnie had left the field. Bristol City could - should - have won by at least 2, probably 3.
Good write up. Spot on. Be prepared to be called a moron. I,we await the verdict of the "moron caller" Of course the caller witnessed first hand the entire game at the stadium.
The WUM will be on sooner or later with the same crap being spouted about 'the saviours'!! We were abysmal today, but I'm sure it will be 'spun' differently.. I was wanting the East stand to really lay into them.. The Yanks that is.
.Our first deserved Loss and everyone thinks it's doom and gloom and i have been expecting that anyway.....We are not going to win or draw every game but our last 4 games shows we are on the right track......We have a new team who has played 3 games in quick succession and that is hard for a team that is established let alone a new team like ours.....Of course i'm disappointed we lost but i'm not downhearted by any stretch of the imagination......The first minute goal was bad news for us and it meant right from the kick off we had to score 2 goals if we are going to win and that is so difficult for any team to do,,, B C defended their lead well and we defended against them from killing us off by scoring another goal and that is thanks to our keeper, so there a few positives we can take from the game but there are more negatives that Potts has to work on and with a bit of luck we should see a couple of new faces in the next few days.....I dont think there is anything to worry about as it was a bad day at the office where not much went right and this happens to all teams at the end of the day...
