League - Sky Bet Championship Date - 25 August 2018 Kick Off - 3pm Venue - Liberty Stadium Following their thrilling 2-2 home draw with Leeds United - a result which deprived the Yorkshiremen of their 100% League record under Marcelo Bielsa - next up for Graham Potter's Swans squad is the visit of Bristol City to the Liberty Stadium. Oli McBurnie finished a fine team move to give the vibrant hosts a deserved lead against Leeds but Kemar Roofe tapped in to level before half-time. McBurnie restored Swansea's lead with a superb arcing header before Leeds substitute Patrick Bamford set up former Swan Pablo Hernandez to sweep in a low equaliser, taking his side to the top of the Championship. Whilst the Swans were drawing with Leeds, Bristol City were registering their first Championship win of the season as Matty Taylor opened the scoring four minutes before the break and Andreas Weimann added a second-half brace. After Robins keeper Niki Maenpaa had denied Conor Washington the opening goal from close range, Taylor cut in from the right and sent a low shot into the bottom corner from a narrow angle. Weimann was left unmarked at the back post to head in Niclas Eliasson's left-wing cross five minutes after the break, and Josh Brownhill cut the ball back for the Austria international to tap in a third in the 90th minute. Lee Johnson's City were largely untroubled after taking the lead and, after taking two points from their first three games of the campaign, ended a run of seven Championship matches without a win stretching back to April. The Swans and the Robins have played each other on 65 occasions, with the Swans winning 20, drawing 19 and losing 26. The two sides last met on 1 February 2011 at Ashton Gate when the Swans ran out 2-0 victors thanks to a brave from Darren Pratley. Arguably, the most memorable match - certainly from the Swans’ perspective - was the match at the Liberty in 2005 when the home side ran out 7-1 winners, thanks to a hat-trick from Kevin McLeod, a brace from LT10 and a gosh each from Adebayo Akinfenwa and Leon Britton: Turning to Saturday, if the Swans can repeat the performance that they showed against Leeds, I think they can win 2-1
An away win is priceless so an away 0-3 scoreline needs a closer inspection to see how impressive it was. The QPR fans said they were dreadful while the Bristol fans seem to think the result flattered them. The impressive feature of last nights performance at the Liberty was that it was our first 90 minute performance of the season. The big question is "Can we repeat it?". Leroy Fer is coming back after a serious injury and also sustained a heavy challenge last night so I'd be surprised if he starts. Despite this, going on my limited knowledge of Bristol and the confidence that will sweep through our side after yesterdays performance I'm going for a home win. Prediction: Swans 2 Bristol City 0
Well, consistency is so important - I hope our performance last night wasn't a one-off. We should be targeting a win in every home game anyway, and I expect that to happen. We have showed what we are capable of, but that performance last night is highly dependant on Fer playing, as Carroll is no replacement for him.
QPR look to be in all sorts of problems so not sure how much weight to put on last night's result. I think we will boss this game but fully expect us to revert back to a single goal so 1-0
Prior to last nights win Bristol hadn't won away since last December so lets stop them in their tracks with another good performance from us , Leeds were our hardest test so far and I don't normally do predications but if we can replicate last nights performance then we should continue our unbeaten run 2-0
If we can match last night's performance then we could win this comfortably. That said, I'll take a 1-0 now.
Seen enough now out of the first four games that we can compete at the highest level in the Championship. The Birmingham game showing a plucky gritty side to the team in grinding out a fortuitous point, but last night showed how good this team is and could get better. Fer will be crucial to our season and I thought his performance last night was excellent, braking up play and his passing was top draw. Loved seeing VDH and Rodon having the confidence in bringing the ball out of defence. Now we need the board to prove to us fans that the do intend on taking us to the next level, back to the PL. I’ve said it more than once now, if we fail to back Potter and he takes this side to the edge of the playoffs and we miss out, the PL vultures will be clambering for his services next season. A few reinforcements to the squad could put us on the verge of something special, where a top two finish is well within our grasp. Please don’t let Potter down!! Oh forgot Swans 2-0 win.
I am just looking for more progression, the side looking more and more like they are getting to know each other. If Bristol try and come and play then I think we will beat them, but the way to beat Swansea is to come out and bully us as Birminham done and unfortunately I don't think we have the players to deal with that. Not sur either whether we have the depth in the squad to change things round so we don't **** the players up So let's hope they come to play. Love 3 points not sure on this one could go either way.
Every team can beat each other on the day. Predictions that we all do is nothing more than a wish and hope and we base that on past results and form and that is fair enough.....Most pundits will have us as favorites (Except Loro maybe) But it won't be easy, No games are so i am going to wish and hope for a 3 - 0 win...
I'm going with my score on the prediction thread of 2-1win, Bristol are no mugs, but we should have too much pace for them, Not sure if Fer will start this one, will depend on his fitness, see him coming off the bench second half..............
We are not alone!........ Dai is with us, his ET qualities are not easily visible!.............................................
I wonder if Bony will play ? I dont think it will be fair on McB if he is dropped and hope we try the both together.
4 nil to Swansea Anyone else enjoying life in the Championship a bit too much? Such a better competition to be in
