My point was if they offered your definition of socialism it would attract the same response as the Communist Party of Britain receives, total rejection.

I don't much want to get into a theoretical discussion here SH. But you do not know what my 'ideal' socialism is. Generically it is used by many to mean collective ownership of the means of production - judged by that definition the Labour Party is not, and never has been, socialist. For others it may mean some kind of 'Keynesianism' which accepts but tries to soften the worst aspects of Capitalism. Unfortunately it means different things to different people (even the Nazis called themselves socialists) - for you it is just a 'catch all' word to describe anything you do not like.

Whatever your chosen socialism is, and I've got no interest in finding out, I can tell you the UK do not want it. They have also rejected whatever kind of socialism the Labour Party calls itself.

What is disgusting is the abject poverty suffered by Southern European countries by policies created in Brussels. Remainers remain very quiet on the subject.

Does the Labour Party call itself Socialist ? Another point is that you are presuming that I call myself a socialist which I don't.

I don't suppose that you have read today about people in Nottingham having to live in caves because the system is so deeply flawed in the UK. Nothing to do with anyone other than the UK government who set the policies. Why do the job centres send people along to food banks because they do not have the power to do otherwise? Things are not right for some people who maybe are not so bright, but to send them to the scrapheap is not the sort of society I would wish to see.

Again you chose to ignore the massive unemployment and poverty suffered in the EU, just pretend it is not happening.

Have you actually been to Southern Europe and looked at abject poverty ? Have you seen soup kitchens there, or homeless sleeping in shop doorways, or food banks, or any of those things which you can see in so many of Britain's deprived areas ? Is there a 10 year difference in life expectancy between Milan and Naples - as between Hull and Kensington. ?

Christ, you'll be telling us that Donald trump is a stand up guy next. Trying to debate you is like trying to debate with a flat earther.. a complete waste of time, drag you down to their level and beat you with experience whilst being FRACTALLY wrong.

No SH. Wherever I see poverty in extreme forms I am against it. Because I am not tied to one country I can see when things are wrong, look into the causes, and have an opinion, although the chances of doing anything in a foreign country are not possible. To take your attitude that because the Tory party says something it must be right, just shows up either a lack of desire to improve things for those at the bottom of the heap, or an unwillingness to think about others.

Have you been there to witness the 50% unemployment rate amongst the young. It is ridicules to compare the plight of the Greeks with the UK.

You only see wrong in the UK, you have a strange blinkered view of the world. I am always willing to criticise Tory policies but sensibly realise they are the only electable political party in the UK at the moment.

A blinkered view of the world? Hardly, I see and read things that do not appear strangely in your favourite newspapers. It could well be asked which Tory party you do support seeing as there is clearly more than one at present. That does get reported over here as well as in the UK. As we well know whichever one it is you support, they were not electable at the last election. I wonder what game changing thoughts your current leader will come back with after her walking trip around the Alps.

The Tories were clearly elected at the last GE with the Labour Party losing for a third time and the Lib Dems reduced to a sideshow. You clearly do not read enough French papers as you knew nothing of the French ports being bypassed in favour of others. Hopefully May will be swopped for a proper Brexiteer at the annual conference. JRM has already bought a house near the HoP for convenience for high office.

You do not know just how much this made me laugh.

May gave three Brexiteers jobs, all of whom proved to be idiots. Maybe that was her plan? JRM currently has a 6% rating from those who think he would be a good PM. No wonder you hang your coat on him. He is a caricature of a person as well as an MP.
There is no party or leader in the UK that people support, the polls show it. Compare Macron to any other politician in France and he is streets ahead. I am sure May wishes she could say the same.

Macron's popularity has nosedived since last year, less than 26% think he understands normal people. JRM is amongst the favourites to be the next PM. I think he would make an excellent Chancellor. The Tories are blessed with excellent experienced candidates, hopefully Brexiteers will fill the most important roles.

Please stop SH. There is only so much funny stuff people can take in one night.

When is the leadership election? Has it been confirmed yet? What post do you have in mind for Redwood? Something in Wales perhaps?

Believe you me, the difference between life in France and life in the UK at the minute is extraordinary. Almost everything in the UK that can go wrong does go wrong. From the top of govt ( cabinet) to the bottom ( Northamptonshire) is in a mess. Even my little local authority has suspended the 3 top officers, 2 of whom resigned to avoid any report on their misdemeanours. Cost to US , £1m and rising. Public disclosure, £0. No surprise that the Council is Tory.
France is idiosyncratic, but a much happier country than some (myopic little englanders) would have us believe. Try their health service. Curiously, their productivity is higher than the UK. So for all the sneering about strikes, long lunch hours and unemployment, they somehow seem to be doing things better. I wonder if the EEC helps them be a mor pleasant place in which to live. Oh BTW, why is it that arch Brexiteers like Lawson have homes in France ?
