Couple from Burnley sadly die whilst on holiday in Egypt... Tomas Cook moving remaining 301 guests to other hotels or fly home after a “mystery illness” https://news.sky.com/story/thomas-c...ypt-resort-where-british-couple-died-11480485
Posting this because....well because I'm evil. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/uf...-scrotum-half-using-drill-freak-accident.html
Oh I've seen that before. 4th wouldn't be the end of the world, but then there'd be the stress of the play-offs and the Hampshire play-off curse was only ended the season before last by north Hampshire's finest, Farnborough. In other news, my laptop completely and dramatically died. It's only just under 6 months old and it had been completely fine until Monday when it blue screened of death for the very first time during my NFL Fantasy Draft, meaning I missed a pick and ended up with the Patriot's defence... Not sure that was good, but there we go. Anyhow, Tuesday it was fine again... Then Wednesday I was playing Fallout 4 and it was fine, then suddenly Fallout 4 closed itself and a few moments of later it blue screened of death again. Weird. So I tried playing Fallout 4 again and it closed itself after a while so I was like, okay, I'll ditch this for now. It was fine the rest of the evening until I decided to play Stardew Valley, then it blue screened about 15 minutes in... but this time, it suddenly started repeatedly blue screening every time I loaded up windows and it's like, what and I couldn't do anything... Then over the course of yesterday I tried multiple fixes based on the error message I was getting. But some of them would run it then just say "couldn't do x". I even tried going to a system restore point before Monday and that happened. Weirdly, it was at least letting me enter windows in safe mode with no problems, then I just decided to try enter debugging mode or something, cause that felt like it could work. Big mistake. After that it wouldn't even load windows or even get to the log in screen. I don't know why. So I tried resetting it and it got to a few % then that failed, then I did a total system restore, but then that failed again but it seems to have removed the operating system. It's like wtf. It did come up with something about a hardware issue. One of the errors it came up with was memory management... But that only started happening later. The first few bsod were for something else and from what I could read, it could be something to do with the video card drivers (I had updated them recently, about a couple of weeks ago)... But surely that wouldn't have done it. But what could have happened to cause it to so dramatically die on Wednesday? Fallout 4 is fairly graphically intense, but Stardew Valley isn't... And I'd been able to run those fine (and any other game) without any problems at all prior. At least it's still under warranty. I'm just worried they won't let me get a replacement, they'll be like oh it's your fault, nothing to do with us. Not like I've ever even dropped it or anything.
I’m in need of advice from any DIY-ers or plumbers, or, to be honest, anyone with experience! I’m having an ensuite installed in what was a shower room and the guys doing it have discovered that the soil pipe isn’t big enough and have offered me two options - get a macerating toilet or they knock through the wall and install an external soil pipe down the outside of the house. I’m tempted to go the macerating route (with a sign in the ensuite saying “No number 2s here, please” , but I’ve been reading horror stories about noise, blocking, etc and I’m at a loss as to what is best. Don’t really want them knocking a hole in the wall and putting a big pipe down the outside, but that’s the only other option! Can anyone help? Has anyone got one of these macerating loos? Thanks muchly!!
read that as mulchly! (I'd go the safe route and have a new pipe unless you live in a listed building)
and here's this story about a woman who fitted a dildo to a drill with disastrous results: www.imadeitupofcourse
We have a big ugly pipe all down the outside of our house at the back. I bought a star jasmine to climb up it to cover it a bit.
Hi Dave, I'm not a plumber but I have come across this type of thing myself. It used to be possible (if the regs still allow it) to run the soil pipe down the inside of the house and then out through the wall below ground level. The pipe can be boxed in and lagged with insulation to reduce water noise. This version obviously does away with an unsightly pipe on the outside wall. BUT it does require more work to be done in that the pipe has to be boxed in inside and the vent part of the pipe has to go up through the roof tiles rather than over the facia outside. This diagram may make what I've been waffling about a bit clearer. please log in to view this image
We have a macerating loo which was here when we arrived. Having been here 2 & 1/2 yrs we've had no problems and when I called the plumber about servicing he said no need unless there's a problem. We've got used to it and don't find it a problem. On the plus side, It sometimes startles visitors We larf
Stayed in a B&B in Shropshire years ago that had one in the bathroom. It had a sign on it that said "Yes, it is supposed to make that noise when you flush it". The out-laws have one. Been in there for six or seven years, never a problem. If you're not going to allow number 2s in there, can't you just pee in the sink? Vin
Here's something to read to keep you going Dave. Cue more toilet humour jokes. https://www.plumbingsupply.com/when-and-where-to-use-a-macerating-toilet.html
Cheers, but the issue is that, in order to go down using the existing box, they would have to remove kitchen cupboards (the kitchen is below the bedroom), mess up the tiles in there and connect it to the main drains. It would be easier going out through the wall and down the outside of the house, therefore a heck of a lot cheaper. If they go through the kitchen, I might end up having to redo tiling etc around the sink etc which might end up being a new kitchen!
Sounds like to me either imminent hard drive failure or physical graphic card issue. Either way if only 6 months old, you should be good I think.
For what it’s worth my son is a plumber who fits bathrooms and his response was go through the wall. He also fits kitchens if you go the other route and feck it up
