Knowing City it'll be £100,000 per minute. Which means he'll be around £500,000 better off this time next year <ok>

    Yeah that's probably true <laugh>

And surely there must be some kind of salary incase he doesn't get a game?

He's got a workout DVD to fall back on. Should be on the shelves in time for Xmas.

    "should" being the key word.

I have a feeling that Hargreaves himself will be on the shelf long beyond Christmas.

Very well said, and cuts out all the above pointless bullsh*t etc. Hargo could have been a key part of our team had he stayed fit but things didnt work out. Personally I'm not over the mood that he jointed City but at the end of the day the poor lad has been to hell and back trying to get fit and just play football so I wish him well but not city. Wished he would have gone Westbrom instead but we cant have everything we want in life. Good luck Owen , hope you sort out your carrer lad and move on from the past 3years of non-football hell.

In two minds about this. On one hand he will probably go there and spill the beans on everything that makes United tick and being one of our own for 4 years it will be hard to take. Even though he only played one season he was idolised by the fans. We sang his name at every game even though he didn't play. I feel people who say he was a flop don't realise that he was probably our best player in the League/Champions League winning season and virtually paid his fee back with them performances.

He has been incredibly unlucky with his injuries so who are we to begrudge an individual a living? The other part of me just feels sorry for him and I actually want him to prove his critics wrong. I want him to be the best player in a **** City team!!

Put it this way I don't think I will boo him if he turns out for City at Old Trafford next month. That is unless he bad mouths us because he still owes the club. If he comes out and says anything bad then he will be worse than Tevez in my opinion.

Agree with your sentiments MUFCOK. To be honest I'd be shocked if Owen bad mouthed us considering all SAF did for the lad.

Well he says that he's going to take it slowly, has been left out of City's CL squad for the surplus to requirements Wayne Bridge and there is no date pencilled in for a debut. Welcome to Manchester Infirmary Owen.

"I've never not played in the Champions League, it's pretty much been standard for me every season."

What's he on? Bar one group stage game in September 2008 he has not played any Champions League football for the last three seasons.

Thought I would give this thread a bump as City are to get rid of him. I would have some sympathy for him for but the things he said about our medical team were shocking.

    Source - The Guardian

Owen Hargreaves will not be offered a new deal by Manchester City at the end of the season, a decision that casts doubt over the midfielder's long-term future in the game in light of the injuries that have wrecked his recent career.

Hargreaves is on a pay-as-you-play contract at City, which ends at the close of the season. The midfielder was signed on a free transfer last summer after Manchester United released him following four injury-plagued years at Old Trafford, the result of a serious knee condition. Before signing for City, Hargreaves considered retiring from football due to the injury that had limited him to 18 league starts at United since joining from Bayern Munich in August 2007.

Yes it is sad if his career ends since he was a great player whose time was so cut short by injuries. Yet Mancini looks a bit of a prat. Yes it was a gamble to employ him yet didn't Mancini say:

"He has been very unlucky for the last years but he is still only 30, which is not old in football, and I don't think it's going to be a problem. He needs more time for his confidence but when he starts playing again I think he will always be available after that."

'I'm going to blow people away.

'I'm coming back believing I can return to the level I was at before. My body feels great and my knees are perfect.

'I've just got this huge chip on my shoulder because I've been out for three years and people think I'm dead and buried.

I'd like to think I can play 40 games this season and with the right care I believe I can train every day.

'I hope to be back in the England side for the European Championship next summer. You have to have ambition.'

Love this one, most City fans thought they had " got one over " United with this signing ! Sad really as he could have been a great player these past few years but for his injuries.
