I remember some of the epic arguments when the site had the positive/negative thingy. Some people really got wound up over it. At least with the like system nobody's really bothered.

But it disappears if they unlike it. The notification I mean. You only know about the original like then that just vanishes. Found this out one time by accident.

I don't see the like notification or removal. I do.see a.like.in transfer thread so.i assume there is some delay built in to stop someone clicking and unlocking and annoying people
If you want to annoy someone you can tag someone but change the name in the raw code so it looks like you were tagging someone else @zanjino. Example... Click on Zanjino link above.
Milk tried it with one of my posts. It seems that if you 'like' the comment the recipient gets an alert but no alert when it's unliked. So you're right you can't do it just to annoy people. Pity ...
