They joined at the same time but Ings was blighted with injury, not his fault. But in the whole time he was with us Ings scored just 4 goals!

Origi has scored 21 - more games obviously but he has a 1 in 4 hit rate. That's not bad, it's just that he's so painful to watch <laugh>

    Most important attribute; work rate

If you're a forward your main job is to score, doing both obviously is desirable but if you can only have one attribute in that position, I'd take the goals over the work rate. Harry Kane is a great example.

Look.... They are different players. origi has some attributes but working hard is not one of them. he has his strong poi rd where he might get goals but he doesn't work hard for his chances.

ings so is like a dog but he will then get a good chance and just miss it.

it's that final bit where you wonder about any striker.. if we get a chance will he score it for us.. and neither man would be the guy is bet on.

sturridge... yeah I'd bet on him scoring anyway. if fit he is clearly.our best finisher.

firmino... on form yes he generally is decent in front of goal but has that spark of creativity as well that goal getting.

salah is just a machine at getting in great portions but you wonder should he be getting even more goals <laugh> as funny as that sounds.

solanke tbh I wouldn't back him to score at all either. I see a big strong young lad but I just don't see the goal scorer.

not sure if go that far.

all things being equal pick the guy who scored goals.

but they can't be gorgeous gus (who remembers that reference)

They have to work to get the chances.

If that was the case, then Ings / Milner / hendo would be considered world class

I heard you the first time <laugh>

As I said you want both work rate and goals. But specifically answering G. Ings work rate got us nowhere. Kane's goals got his team a long way but I don't want his low work rate in my team either. I want a Salah or Firmino doing what they are doing and as a bonus converting more of the missed chances.

We were talking about Firmino and his possible replacement. Scoring is not his main job

Correct, his main job is to hold it up, make clever runs to draw the defenders away, play clever 1-2's and work really hard on the pressing.

He's never been prolific in the league but that's not what Klopp demands of him. I expect his goals will reduce even more (to last season) now he's been dropped in even deeper and Salah is the furthest man forward.

I'd get "I :emoticon-0152-heart Milner" tattooed on my butt if it wasn't so gay. :1980_boogie_down:

which is also why Ings was actually a pretty good replacement as he ticks most of the above boxes (maybe lacks in the creative department) but certainly is more speedy. Not a top quality replacement though but one to make do.

Far better than Origi who is lazy and makes bad decisions and also cannot hit a barn door

If I had to pick between Ings, Studge , and Origi. I'd keep Ings. He's never going to be good enough for a starting role but he fits the team better.

As Bobby said, he could play the Firmino role (although not as good), but he's also pretty decent out wide and could cover for Mane. He's decent at tracking back too and filling holes. Very hard working like Mane or Fimino, just lower quality. He could replace either of them if we're in a jam.

... Would rather someone better though.
