Another excellent article from the ‘MFW stable’ and their general consensus of opinion seems to be whilst there is a marked improvement in our attacking – defensively, we’re still as porous as last season and whist one comment states that we have a negative GD (-2), if my memory serves me correctly, by the same stage last season, we were at -6!!!!. Connor makes considerable reference to statistics (there are lies, damn lies and statistics) and I’ll leave you to decide on which ‘side of the fence you are – though several posters would like to see DF removed, before he drags us into league one. Many fans quite rightly unhappy, but as the article highlights, we were not a million miles away from having 9 points and we DESPARATELY need a win (or more) prior to the end of this month and sad to say, I can’t see it. Having said that however, I still believe SW/DF CAN turn things around and I CERTAINLY wouldn’t want any of the ‘3 wise men’ RBF suggested (I know Pullis was one of them, but can’t remember the other two). http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...n-and-thats-that-city-simply-have-to-improve/ #aintthatthetruth
This is right up my street as working in performance sport, Sports Psychology and marginal gains are huge interests and areas that I work in... But even I'm a little perplexed by this Would be interested to see if there is any observation and research into the outcomes, or whether it's just a case of "we'll paint it pink, that's a good idea" with little or no follow up to see if there is actually any tangible evidence to support it. If there is I'd genuinely love to read it
I'm sure someone within the NCFC hierarchy read about it somewhere and knowing our board, they fell for the idea 'hook, line and sinker', but I've a feeling that it could COMPLETELY backfire, as away teams will be quite incensed by the tactic and start the game totally fired up.
The conversation probably went something like this. Farke ." Mrs Delia we have just sold Josh Murphy and James Maddisson who scored a majority of our goals , what am I going to replace them with Sir ?" Delia " There's a can of pink Dulux I'm the away dressing room, I suggest you get painting "
Supposedly pink reduces testosterone levels, so opponents hopefully will be less geed up at the start of the match.
If the pink paint doesn't work we'll have to invest in a homosexuality triggering bomb from the US next. https://www.turkishminute.com/2018/...mosexuality-triggering-bombs-against-enemies/
That is the part of the story that confuses me the most. It makes generalisations and stereotypes that to perform successfully on a football pitch you need high levels of testosterone and be "all fired up" like you're going into battle. That simply isn't the case For some sports this might well be the case but football is not a grunt sport or maximal sport (like sprinting) and football as a team sport is so multifaceted that the optimal amount of testosterone required for each athlete will vary wildly as some will naturally look to calm themselves prior to a match. Added to that, there are technical aspects of the game which are more successfully executed when calm. I noticed that this was something that was done previously in an American University, where I think the nature and dynamic of their sports (American Football in particular) perhaps lend themselves more to this kind of psychology. But I would be fascinated to see if there is any tangible evidence as to whether this has an impact on football as I can't see it myself (based on my knowledge and experiences)
If opponents fall asleep on the pitch, then we know that it has worked, otherwise a rather impractical strategy.
As I said in post #24!! Edit - Another from the MFW stable and from a fan who has seen our 3 league games this season - http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...-city-side-off-quite-yet-give-it-time-to-gel/ The title of the article says it all and his glass is obviously still 'half full', as mine is!!!! Looks like he's calling for PATIENCE!!
I find this whole story rather embarrassing to be honest, I know anything to get an edge in this game is useful but really!??? I think I read somewhere that this had been done in American football and is now a banned practise?? Perhaps it works
Looking at our lowly league position at the time this was announced, it does smack hugely of desperate measures - last chance saloon, almost.
